Final Results  |  Day One Recap

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's track & field team won its second straight and eighth overall title at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Indoor Championships that wrapped up Sunday evening from Lehigh University.

Slippery Rock posted the largest winning margin at the women's indoor meet since 2012 after winning seven of the 17 events on the way to racking up 153 points. Shippensburg was a distant second with 90.5 points while East Stroudsburg took third with 82.75 points. Millersville was fourth with 59 points and Kutztown rounded out the top five with 58.5 points.

The Rock repeated as PSAC champions after also claiming the 2024 indoor title. SRU also won the 2024 cross country title in the fall and has now won four of the last five PSAC titles handed out in the women's "running sports." SRU's victory marks a league-leading eight total indoor championships for the program.

Slippery Rock also took home two of the major individual awards at the conclusion of the meet with Samantha Gilbert being named the Most Outstanding Track Athlete and Regan Johnson earning the PSAC Champion Scholar award for owning the highest GPA of all women competing at the meet. Johnson, who also won the award last winter, owns a perfect 4.0 GPA with more than 150 total credit hours earned.

Gilbert swept the PSAC titles in the short sprints and set SRU records in both the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes this weekend. She opened the day Sunday by winning the 60-meter dash in 7.51 seconds, just missing her own school record of 7.50 seconds that she set Saturday in the prelims. She then came back later in the day and shattered her own SRU record in the 200-meter dash with a win in 24.84 seconds. Johnson also scored in both events, taking sixth in the 60m in 7.79 seconds and eighth in the 200m in 26.07 seconds. Gilbert closed out her meet by running the lead leg of the fourth place 4x400-meter relay, where she teamed with Annasophia Stauffer, Lydia Reed and Jianna Long to post a time of 4:00.05.

Gilbert's wins in the two short sprints Sunday were two of six event wins for The Rock women on the final day of the competition.

Two of those came from senior distance standout Anna Igims, who remained perfect over the last two seasons at the indoor conference meet. She won both the mile and the 3,000-meter run Sunday after anchoring the winning distance medley relay Saturday. Igims has now won seven straight indoor titles dating back to last winter and has won 10 overall PSAC titles since the 2024 indoor meet. Ruthie Hughes joined her in earning All-PSAC honors in both events with a runner-up finish in the 3K and a third place showing in the mile. Hughes earned All-PSAC honors in three different events this weekend and scored 22 individual points for SRU.

The Rock also picked up a win and tallied 24 total points in the shot put. The victory came from Savannah Schneck, who unloaded a career-best and NCAA provisional mark of 13.82 meters on her very first throw. She suffered an injury after the throw and did not take any of her other five attempts, but her first throw held up for her first career PSAC title. Becca Martin earned All-PSAC honors in third place with a toss of 13.28 meters. Olivia Heckman was fourth at 13.24 meters and Autumn Stewart was sixth at 11.98 meters as The Rock women dominated the event.

The final event win for SRU Sunday came from true freshman Jianna Long, who took the top spot in the 400-meter dash in 57.77 seconds in her PSAC debut. Long was the only 400m runner to dip under 58.00 seconds this weekend on the 200-meter flat track.

Cassidy Davis and Paige Griffith combined for six points in the high jump with Davis tying for fourth with a clearance of 1.62 meters and Griffith placing seventh with the same height.

Chaley Younkin picked up five points in the 60-meter hurdles with a fourth place showing in 9.06 seconds.

Aleks Brozeski and Baylee Blauser rounded out the point scorers Sunday with their performances in the triple jump. Brozeski took sixth with a leap of 11.57 meters and Blauser was seventh at 11.52 meters. They both also scored in the long jump Saturday.

This weekend's PSAC meet marked the end of the indoor season for most of The Rock's roster, while the athletes that have met the NCAA standard in their events will now wait to find out if they are high enough on the declared list to be accepted into the National Championships. The NCAA will announce the accepted entries for nationals Tuesday evening. The rest of the SRU roster will shift its focus to the 2025 outdoor season, which is set to begin March 20-22 at the University of North Carolina – Charlotte.
