LAST TIME OUT
Slippery Rock pulled away in the second half at Mansfield Dec. 6 to win its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference opener, 66-40.

Kayley Joseph-Bernard led SRU with 15 points, seven rebounds, four assists and a career-high five steals. Iyanna Wade (14), Alyssa Gillin (11) and Mairan Haggerty (10) scored in double-figures for The Rock as well.

Sophia Hook and Karianna Woods scored six points apiece, while Deryn Moye and Hannah Pugliese each put in two points as everybody who stepped on the court for Slippery Rock on the day scored.

Hook paced The Rock with a career-high 12 rebounds. Wade was one rebound short of a double-double as the freshman grabbed nine boards and dished out five assists to go along with her 14 points.

Woods led SRU defensively with four steals and two blocks.

Slippery Rock ended the game shooting 41.4 percent (29-of-70) from the field overall, 16 percent (4-for-25) from the 3-point line and 100 percent (4-of-4) from the charity stripe.

Mansfield finished the tilt shooting 21.7 percent (13-of-60) from the floor overall, 5.6 percent (1-for-18) from beyond the arc and 76.5 percent (13-of-17) from the foul line.

STARTING CONFERENCE PLAY WITH A WIN
This is the second consecutive season, and fourth in the last five overall, that SRU has opened conference play with a victory. The Rock defeated West Chester University, 69-56, a season ago. Slippery Rock has a +36 scoring margin (332-296) in conference openers since 2021-22.

WINNING BY A WIDE MARGIN
The Rock's 26-point victory over Mansfield was the program's largest win since downing Davis & Elkins College, 79-42, in last year's season-opener.

DOMINATING THE PAINT
SRU dominated the paint last time out as it outscored the Mountaineers 44-24 inside. Slippery Rock has won the battle inside in each of its three victories and was outscored in the paint in its four defeats.

PROTECTING THE BALL
Slippery Rock protected the ball well against Mansfield as it had more assists (14) than turnovers (10) for the first time this season. The Rock currently sit third in in hte PSAC in turnovers per game (15.6) and sixth in assist to turnover ratio (0.89).

SHUTTING IT DOWN
The 40 points SRU allowed against Mansfield were the fewest allowed by The Rock since a 49-32 victory over Shippensburg University on Dec. 19, 2023. On the season, Slippery Rock is conceding 67.9 points per game.

QUARTER-BY-QUARTER
Outside of the third quarter, Slippery Rock held Mansfield to under 10 points in each frame, including a four-point fourth quarter. Four points is the lowest scoring quarter the Slippery Rock defense has forced since last season's finale against Edinboro when the Fighting Scots were limited to four points in the third quarter.

PSAC CROSSOVERS AT HOME
The Rock holds a 16-10 record at Morrow Field House against the PSAC East in crossover encounters since they started counting as conference games in the 2014-15 season.

PROTECTING THE PAINT
Joseph-Bernard has been one of the fiercest shot-blockers in the country so far this season. The forward is currently 28th in Division II in total blocks with 17 and 15th with 2.43 blocks per game. While near the top of the country in blocks and blocks per game, Joseph-Bernard's total rejection numbers stand alone atop the PSAC.

Along with Joseph-Bernard, Gillin has also been a force in the paint. Gillin ranks seventh in blocks per game (1.29) and in total blocks (9) in the PSAC.

MOVING THE ROCK
Ball movement has been key for SRU putting up 65.3 points per game as it has assisted on 55.1 percent (97-of-176) of it's made field goals.

Joseph-Bernard and Wade lead the way for Rock playmakers as the forward ranks fourth (4.1 apg) and the guard ranks fifth (4.0 apg) in the PSAC in assists per game.

LEADING THE PACK
Wade is the 13th leading scorer in the PSAC with 13.4 points per game, and leads all freshman in the conference

A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING
While not the highest scoring player on the court, Joseph-Bernard always finds multiple ways to impact the game. The senior is averaging 8.7 points, 9.4 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 2.43 blocks and 1.7 steals per game.

Joseph-Bernard is the only Division II athlete to average at least 8.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.0 blocks and 2.0 steals per game.

HITTING THE GLASS
Joseph-Bernard is one of the premier rebounders in the PSAC as the senior grabs the third most defensive boards per game (7.6), the fifth most total rebounds (66) and the fifth most rebounds per contest (9.4) in the PSAC.

3-POINT PRECISION
Slippery Rock has multiple players lighting it up from beyond the arc during the 2025-26 season. Hook ranks fourth (.381) and Gillin (.341) sits sixth in the PSAC in 3-point percentage.
