SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team will honor the life of its late former head coach Bobby McGraw prior to tipping off against Edinboro 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Morrow Field House.

The Rock will be facing their fourth straight regionally ranked opponent, looking to fight back into the win column with a 7-11 overall record that includes a 4-8 showing within the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.

The Fighting Scots continue to jockey for position within the PSAC West, entering at 15-4 on the season and 10-2 inside league play.

BOBBY McGRAW MEMORIAL GAME
Slippery Rock is celebrating the life of its late former women's basketball head coach Bobby McGraw Wednesday night. McGraw passed away unexpectedly July 10, 2022. Many of his family members and friends will be in attendance at Morrow Field House.
Â
McGraw took over as head coach in May of 2014 and went on to become the third-longest tenured coach in SRU women's basketball history. He led the program to 77 wins, ranking him fourth on the all-time women's basketball coaching wins list at The Rock.

Ryenn Micaletti was the first assistant coach that McGraw hired prior to the 2014-15 season. Their first win together in PSAC competition came against Edinboro Dec. 3, 2014 at Morrow Field House.

In addition to the several on-court accolades earned under McGraw, The Rock had 57 women's basketball players named as PSAC Scholar-Athletes.
Â
McGraw played collegiate basketball at both Butler Counter Community College and Clarion before earning his degree in criminal justice from Tiffin University. He was also a member of the U.S. Marine Corps Military Police and was a retired Pennsylvania State Police Trooper.

ALUMNAE GAME ANNOUNCED FOR FEB. 8
The Slippery Rock women's basketball team invites all Rock women's basketball alumnae to Morrow Field House Feb. 8 as The Rock will host California (Pa.) on Alumnae Day.

All Rock women's basketball alumnae will get free admission into Slippery Rock's game against Cal, which tips off at 1 p.m. The alumnae will be recognized at halftime of the game and enjoy a meet and greet with the 2024-25 team as well as a reception in the Collaboration Room at Morrow Field House.

SERIES HISTORY
The Rock will be facing off with the Fighting Scots for the 116
th time in program history, a series that Edinboro holds a narrow lead in, 58-57. Slippery Rock entered the 2023-24 season with a 57-56 all-time series lead but was swept by Edinboro with a 75-58 road loss and more recently, a 60-47 decision at Morrow Field House.

Edinboro has won the majority of contests against Slippery Rock, going 25-3 versus SRU since 2010. Two of those three wins for Slippery Rock occurred at Morrow Field House with the team's most recent home win against Edinboro falling on Jan. 21, 2017. Since then, Edinboro has won six straight games against Slippery Rock on the road.

That said, Slippery Rock has not lost to Edinboro at home by more than 13 points in its last three games hosting the Fighting Scots. The Rock were clipped by Boro in 2022, 77-66, before putting up a fight in a 67-63 decision in 2023.

Regan Atkins led The Rock with 17 points and five rebounds.

LAST TIME OUT
Slippery Rock dropped a 64-48 PSAC West decision to Indiana University (Pa.) Jan. 22 at Morrow Field House. The Rock lost a 10-5 lead after the Crimson Hawks held The Rock scoreless for 7:44 while going on a 20-0 run. SRU was able to keep pace with IUP after that but could not shrink the deficit to fewer than nine points before the final buzzer sounded.

Robinson led The Rock with 11 points on 4-of-5 overall shooting.
Mairan Haggerty racked up nine points, while
Sophia Hook recorded eight points, five rebounds and two steals.
Brooklyn Jones tallied seven points, six rebounds and six assists.

Kayley Joseph-Bernard was SRU's top rebounder with seven boards to go along with two points, two blocks, two steals and two assists.

Atkins has driven Slippery Rock's offense this season, entering Wednesday with a team-high average of 12.7 points per game. Hook is right behind her with 10.4 points per game, while
Tahmala Thorpe has contributed 10.3 points per game in the 14 contests she has appeared in.

ENDYA HAS A HUGE DAY
Robinson became the eighth different leading scorer for Slippery Rock this season by recording a season-high 11 points against IUP last week. The senior from Chicago, Illinois shot 80 percent (4-of-5) from the field and added three free throws as well as four rebounds.

Robinson, who transferred to Slippery Rock and appeared in all 25 games for SRU last year, has now shot 43.5 percent on the season (10-of-23). She enters a new week of action having averaged 7.0 points and 5.5 rebounds in her last two games for The Rock.

DEFENSE STANDING TALL
Slippery Rock's defense held IUP to just 64 points last week, the fourth time in five games The Rock have allowed fewer than 65 points to be scored by their opponent.

Joseph-Bernard conducted SRU's defense against the Crimson Hawks as she had in several games this season, registering two blocks and two steals. Hook also grabbed two steals for The Rock, while Atkins had one. Gillin additionally got in on the defensive action with one block.

BLOCK PARTY AT THE ROCK
Slippery Rock has now averaged 3.3 blocks per game this season, which ranks ninth in the PSAC but in the top 90 nationally throughout Division II basketball. On the season, SRU has accumulated a 60-41 advantage in blocks over its opponents.

The Rock accounted for three of the total five blocks in their game against IUP. That marks the 13
th time in 18 games this season that SRU has racked up more blocks than its opponent.

Slippery Rock has averaged 13.6 assists per game, landing seventh in the PSAC and within the top 100 schools nationwide throughout Division II. Joseph-Bernard is fourth in the conference with 3.7 assists per game herself, which additionally ranks fourth among all D-II forwards.

Joseph-Bernard also boasts the best assist/turnover ratio in the PSAC West at 1.3. The junior from Milton, Ontario has tallied 67 total assists this year while turning the ball over just 51 times. A NEW FIVE
With Robinson getting her first start of the year, Slippery Rock utilized its sixth different starting lineup of the season against IUP. Atkins, Gillin and Joseph-Bernard have started all 18 contests for SRU.

Jones also started against the Crimson Hawks, her 11
th career start at SRU in 18 appearances. Robinson became the ninth different player on the team to earn a spot in the starting lineup. She was one of 10 different starters last year for The Rock.

RUNNING THROUGH A GAUNTLET
For a fourth straight game, Slippery Rock will be playing a team listed in the D2CSC Atlantic Region Women's Basketball Poll. SRU traveled to Gannon University Jan. 15, which was ranked 16
th nationally and second regionally before heading to Clarion Jan. 18 – a team ranked eighth in the region.

The Crimson Hawks were ranked fourth in the Atlantic Region when IUP came to Morrow Field House last week. Edinboro heads to Morrow Field House ranked sixth in the most recent edition of the D2CSC Atlantic Region poll.

These four consecutive opponents have a cumulative overall record of 60-18 (.769). Gannon, IUP and Edinboro are among the top four teams in the PSAC West standings, a quartet of opponents who are all above .800 in PSAC competition.

ROCK STARS OF RECENT
• Robinson's season-high 11 points bested her previous season-record five points against Davis & Elkins College. She now joins Atkins, Goetz, Joseph-Bernard and
Hallie Raabe in players who have shot better than 43 percent on the year.

• Jones matched a season-high six rebounds against IUP. The graduate student from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania has now hit a season-high in rebounds in each of the last three games. In that span, she has averaged 5.0 rebounds per game.

• Jones also tied a season-best six assists against Indiana, a number she achieved against Glenville State University Nov. 10.

• Joseph-Bernard's team-leading seven rebounds against the Crimson Hawks brought her season total to 145. She now ranks 10
th all-time for most rebounds by transfers in their first season at SRU. Robin Jordan is one rebound ahead of her in ninth with 146. Jordan transferred to SRU from Penn State-Shenango Valley in 1984.

MILESTONE WATCH
• Gillin and Moye are nearing their 200
th career point. Gillin needs nine to reach 200, while Moye requires seven. Atkins (609) and
Kaylin Venick (219) are the only two players on the active roster to have scored more than 200 career points while donning the Green and White.

• Goetz's first of two rebounds against Indiana marked her 50
th career rebound. As a freshman, Goetz is one of just eight players on Slippery Rock's active roster with at least 50 rebounds in a Slippery Rock uniform. She now ranks fifth on the team with 3.2 rebounds per game.

EDINBORO SCOUTING REPORT
Fighting Scots head coach Callie Wheeler became the third Edinboro head coach to reach 100 career wins Jan. 25 when California (Pa.) missed a jumper at the buzzer in an 80-79 decision at McComb Fieldhouse. That result marked the fourth win in five games for Edinboro, its most recent loss coming by way of a 73-67 defeat at Seton Hill.

Edinboro has defeated opponents by an average of 13.9 points per game this year, a scoring margin that ranks 26
th nationally. The Fighting Scots are shooting 44.5 percent from the floor, third in the PSAC, while allowing opponents just 37.0 percent of their chances – good enough defense for fourth in the conference.

Three of Edinboro's starters average double figure scoring totals – Morgan Gentile (15.2), Hayley Sims (13.6) and Ashten Boggs (10.3). Gabby McDuffie, who averages 8.2 points and a team-leading 6.1 rebounds per game, was named this week's PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week.

The Fighting Scots play a crisp style of basketball that limits turnovers while taking advantage of opponents' mistakes. Edinboro ranks second in the conference with a +3.2 turnover margin. Edinboro has also had success all year off the glass, heading into the week with a +6.3 rebound margin that ranks third in the PSAC and 42
nd in Division II.
