SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team will honor the life of its late former head coach Bobby McGraw when it welcomes Edinboro to the court 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Morrow Field House.
Â
Playing in their final home game of the regular season, The Rock come in at 2-21 on the season and 2-18 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. The Fighting Scots are looking for their fourth win in five games, bringing a 15-10 overall record that includes a 13-7 mark in the conference.
Â
REMEMBERING COACH MCGRAW
Slippery Rock is celebrating the life of its late former women's basketball head coach, Bobby McGraw Wednesday night. McGraw passed away unexpectedly July 10, 2022. Many of his family members and friends will be in attendance at Morrow Field House.
Â
What makes this year's memorial game even more special is the presence of
Ryenn Micaletti back on the sideline for SRU. Micaletti was the first assistant coach that McGraw hired prior to the 2014-15 season.
Â
McGraw took over as head coach in May of 2014 and went on to become the third-longest tenured coach in SRU women's basketball history. He led the program to 77 wins, ranking him fourth on the all-time women's basketball coaching wins list at The Rock.
Â
In addition to the several on-court accolades earned under McGraw, The Rock had 57 women's basketball players named as PSAC Scholar-Athletes.
Â
McGraw played collegiate basketball at both Butler Counter Community College and Clarion before earning his degree in criminal justice from Tiffin University. He was also a member of the U.S. Marine Corps Military Police and was a retired Pennsylvania State Police Trooper.
Â
To honor the legacy that McGraw left both on and off the court, the Slippery Rock women's basketball team will be sporting Marines-themed warm-up uniforms prior to Wednesday's game.
