Â
WHERE THEY STAND
While SRU and Seton Hill both went 5-2-3 through PSAC West play, Slippery Rock earned hosting rights in the PSAC Tournament for the first time since 2015 thanks to a head-to-head tiebreaker over Seton Hill. The Rock went 1-0-1 against the Griffins this year, rallying to a thrilling 4-3 road victory earlier this year.
Â
Seton Hill's playoff hopes were rather slim after tying Slippery Rock last week. The Griffins benefitted from an upset later that night when California (Pa.) notched a 1-0 win over Lock Haven University that bumped the once-conference-leading Bald Eagles out of the playoff picture.
Â
The winner of Monday's quarterfinal matchup will play the top seed in the PSAC East, Bloomsburg University 12 p.m. Friday. The Huskies will host both PSAC Semifinal games Friday, and regardless of who plays, host the PSAC Tournament Championship game 1 p.m. Nov. 17 as well.
Â
Millersville University is the two-seed in the PSAC East, playing host to West Chester University 6 p.m. Monday evening. The winner of that matchup will meet Gannon University, who won the PSAC West regular season title, 3 p.m. Friday at Bloomsburg.
Â
THE ROCK IN THE PLAYOFFS
While The Rock are hosting a PSAC Tournament game for the first time since 2015, Monday's game will mark Slippery Rock's first overall PSAC Tournament appearance in five years.
Â
The Rock are 12-10 all-time in the PSAC Tournament, last falling to Mercyhurst University in a 3-0 road test in 2019.
Â
The Rock defeated California (Pa.) in a 1-0 home match in the 2015 PSAC Quarterfinals en route to winning the program's most recent conference championship.
Â
WHAT A TIME TO SCORE
Hanes' game-tying goal in the 85
th minute last week marked the first goal of the midfielder's career. Punching in a cross from Gildea, Hanes found the back of the net with just 5:21 left in the regular season.
Â
A sophomore from Tarentum, Pennsylvania, Hanes is now the 11
th different player to score for The Rock this year. He's also the eighth different SRU men's soccer player to have recorded at least one goal and one assist this year. Hanes notched that assist in The Rock's 2-1 win over Shepherd University Oct. 12.
Â
LATE GAME DRAMA
Heading into Slippery Rock's penultimate game of the regular season, The Rock's previous five victories had all been results of goals tallied in the final 14 minutes of play. Hanes' late-game goal brought some of that drama back to the pitch, with SRU avoiding losses in seven of its last eight games – six of those results by way of goals tallied in the final 14 minutes.
Â
Recent SRU game-winners (time of goal)

SRU went on to win the PSAC Championship that year with a 3-2 overtime thriller at No. 13 Mercyhurst.

th in Division II.

Â
FINDING THE BACK OF THE NET
Slippery Rock ranks fourth out of 12 in scoring offense, finding 1.9 goals per game through 16 regular season matches.
Â

His senior campaign with The Rock has seen seven goals, marking the third straight year that Pla Hernandis has netted at least seven goals for the Green and White. Â
IF WE NEED MORE THAN 90
New to NCAA soccer in 2024, "Golden Goal" overtime rules will return for postseason play. If Slippery Rock and Seton Hill need overtime to decide Monday's outcome, whichever team that scores first in extra time will automatically win the game.
Â
Overtime will still consist of two 10-minute periods with a five-round penalty kick shootout to follow if necessary.
Â
THE DEFENSIVE THIRD
SRU's defense against Seton Hill was made up of Harrigan, Lonjard, Smith, Spence and Spencer. The Rock allowed just five shots on goal from the Griffins, the third consecutive game that fewer than six shots on target have been allowed from SRU's defensive third.
Â
BETWEEN THE PIPES
Adam Davies will return to the net for his 34
th straight start for Slippery Rock, beginning postseason competition with a 1.50 GAA and a .676 save percentage on the season. Davies holds a 2-1-1 career record against Seton Hill after making a trio of saves versus the Griffins offense last week.
Â

th all-time, now with 38 shots on goal. Jorde also moved into a tie for 18
th all-time after last week's efforts, having taken 89 total shots.
