SCOUTING THE ROCK
Slippery Rock suffered a close 2-1 conference loss on the road Tuesday at Indiana University (Pa.).

CONTI TAKES OVER GOALS LEAD
Gianna Conti accounted for The Rock's goal against the Crimson Hawks with what was her team-leading third score of the 2023 season. Conti has now scored seven goals over her first 25 games in a Slippery Rock uniform and 19 total goals in her collegiate career including a 12-goal freshman campaign at Belmont Abbey in 2021.

ROCK GETS GOING EARLY
Conti's goal against IUP came in the first quarter, marking The Rock's first goal in the opening 15 minutes of a game this season.

CLOSE LOSSES
Three of The Rock's six losses this season have been one-goal defeats while a fourth was a narrow two-goal loss.

Helping to keep SRU in games this year has been goalkeeper Grace Burker, who enters Saturday with 40 saves, a 2.13 Goals Against Average and a .690 save percentage. Burker ranks second in the PSAC in saves per game with 5.0.

50 IN A ROW FOR DEL VECCHIO
When she takes the field Saturday, Kayla Del Vecchio will have played in 50 consecutive games for The Rock. Her 50 consecutive games played will be the longest by any active Rock player. The program record for consecutive games played belongs to Katie Krouse, who played in 76 straight contests from 2007-10.

THE REST OF THE ROCK'S ATTACK
In addition to Conti's team-high three goals, four other Rock players have found the back of the cage over the opening eight games. Hilary Hoffman is SRU's other multi-goal scorer with two while Bailee Christman, Erin Roland and Grace Maynard have posted one goal apiece.

Hoffman has fired off a team-high 11 shots on goal followed by Roland (10), Christman (7), Conti (5), Del Vecchio (5), Leslie Colliver (5) and Madison Shomo (2) with multiple shots on goal.

SETTING UP THE ATTACK
Three of SRU's nine goals have been assisted this season from the trio of Hoffman, Christman and Haley Metcalf.

HOMEBODIES
Several current Rock athletes have saved their best performances for when they play at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium. Roland leads all active SRU athletes with 17 points over her career in home games via eight goals and one assist.

Christman has also recached the double-digit points threshold in home games with 12 on five goals and two assists over her 21 games played at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium. Del Vecchio (9 points, 2 G, 5 A), Colliver (8 points, 3 G, 2 A) and Samantha Karmonick (5 points, 1 G, 3 A) round out SRU's active leaders in points scored at home.

Nine of Burker 16 career wins have at home with 118 saves (5.6 per game) and 2.4 goals allowed a contest.

WINS vs. NATIONALLY RANKED TEAMS
Since the 2010 season, Slippery Rock has won nine games against nationally ranked teams. The Rock's previous wins against nationally ranked teams include victories against Kutztown (2017 / No. 5), West Chester (2017 / No. 3), East Stroudsburg (2014 / No. 5), Bloomsburg (2013 / No. 7), Indiana (2011 / No. 6, 2010 / No. 7, 2010 / No. 8) and LIU Post (2010 / No. 5).

WINS COMPARED TO LOSSES
In Slippery Rock's two wins this year it has averaged 3.0 goals per game, 9.5 shots on goal and 6.5 penalty corners. However, in its four losses those averages dip to 0.5 goals, 5.5 shots on goal and 4.2 corners.

SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS
The Marauders come to The Rock with an overall record of 5-3 and a PSAC mark of 0-2 after recent setbacks to IUP (2-1) and No. 2 Shippensburg (1-0). Millersville snapped a rare two-game losing streak with a 5-0 non-conference victory over Mercy University Wednesday.

Qhayiya Nogoduka and Codi Bollinger combine to make up the bulk of Millersville's offensive attack. Nogoduka ranks third in the PSAC in goals scored with seven in addition to passing out one assist while Bollinger has 10 points on four goals and two assists. Kristin Strijdom guides the attack with four assists.

Goalkeeper Kerstin Koons anchors the defense with a .706 save percentage and a 0.77 GAA.
