SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University field hockey team dropped a 3-0 decision to No. 10 Indiana University (Pa.) in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference match Wednesday afternoon from a rainy Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

The Rock drop to 5-11 overall and 1-8 in PSAC action after facing their fourth consecutive top 10 nationally ranked team in the last two weeks. Of the 11 total losses on the season, eight have now come to teams ranked in the top 10 of the Division II national rankings. Indiana improves to 8-6 overall and 5-4 in the PSAC West with the win.

Slippery Rock kept things close for most of the game Wednesday with IUP tallying two goals in the fourth quarter to account for the final score.

The opening goal of the game came in the 28th minute when IUP was awarded a penalty stroke and Lilly Fringer scored on the attempt to send it to halftime with the Hawks leading 1-0.

IUP added insurance tallies from Celeste Gorria Rial in the 48th minute and from Jess Davidson with one second remaining in the game to account for the final score.

The Crimson Hawks finished the game with advantages of 17-3 in total shots, 11-2 in shots on goal and 11-2 in penalty corners.

Hilary Hoffman led The Rock offense with a pair of shots and
Roz Mikulak added one shot.

Leah Riegling made seven saves in goal while her counterpart from IUP, Celeste Pagliaroli, stopped two shots.

Slippery Rock, which already has its most wins in a season since 2022, will have one more shot to better its record when the team travels to Mansfield Saturday to close out the 2025 season with a 1 p.m. game.
