SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University track and field program will have 103 student-athletes competing in three different states Friday and Saturday with athletes competing at the Penn Relays, the East Coast Relays and the WVU Mountaineer Twilight. All four of the SRU athletes heading to historic Franklin Field for the Penn Relays currently rank in the top 21 among all Division II athletes this spring in their respective events.
Sarah Corrie will open competition Friday for SRU when she competes in the college women's shot put at noon. Corrie is one of only four non-Division I athletes accepted into the field, where she will be joined by two other Division II throwers and one Division III thrower. She currently sits No. 1 in the PSAC and No. 21 in DII with a best of 14.21 meters.
Dalton Anderson will compete in the men's college javelin at 1:45 p.m. Friday. Anderson is one of just six non-Division I athletes to be accepted into the event. He enters the meet ranked No. 1 in the PSAC and No. 14 in Divison II with a season-best of 63.53 meters.
John Eakin and
Joshua Gose will close out the meet for SRU in the men's college shot put Friday at 3 p.m. They are two of just four non-Division I athletes accepted to compete in the event. Eakin currently ranks No. 2 in the PSAC and No. 11 in Division II with a throw of 17.63 meters, while Gose is No. 3 in the PSAC and No. 19 in Division II with a toss of 17.22 meters.

Clark will be the lone SRU athlete competing down south in Florida when she competes in the javelin Saturday at 11 a.m. at the University of North Florida's East Coast Relays. She is one of just five non-Division I athletes entered in the competition, which includes two other Division II athletes. The top flight includes eight Division I throwers with entries from Miami, Tulane, Buffalo, Florida International, High Point and Kennesaw State. Clark enters the competition ranked No. 1 in the PSAC and No. 17 in Division II with a season-best of 43.63 meters.

MEN'S WVU BREAKDOWN
Slippery Rock will send 44 men to WVU to compete Saturday evening.

The Rock will be led at WVU by a pair of athletes with NCAA provisional marks in the form of pole vaulter
Dan Hyatt and hammer thrower
Joshua VanDeMark. Both men set career bests and hit NCAA marks last week with Hyatt clearing 4.82 meters in the pole vault to rank No. 31 in DII and VanDeMark throwing 57.42 meters in the hammer to rank No. 30 in Division II.

The Rock's 4x100-meter relay also owns an NCAA time and ranks No. 38 in DII with a time of 40.98 seconds. That team was

Virata will race both the short sprints and enters the meet ranked No. 1 in the PSAC in the 100-meter dash (10.62) and No. 3 in the 200-meter dash (21.67). Crow will race the 110-meter hurdles, where he currently ranks No. 2 in the PSAC (14.83).

Mid-distance standouts
Shannon Dooley and
Devon Navaroli will also race their specialties this weekend with Navaroli entering the 1,500-meter run ranked No. 3 in the PSAC (3:53.38) and Dooley entering the 800-meter run ranked No. 4 in the PSAC (1:52.90).

The trio of
Taye Lynch,
Zack Duda and
Ian James enter the triple jump ranked No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 in the PSAC this season with Lynch leading the way at 14.32 meters, followed by Duda at 13.90 meters and James at 13.74 meters.

Kendall Grossman. Igims currently ranks No. 16 in DII in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:39), but will drop down and race the 1,500-meter run Saturday. Grossman is coming off a career-best 3.84-meter clearance last week and enters the meet ranked No. 21 in Division II in the pole vault.
