2023 All-Atlantic Region Team
Â
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University women's soccer midfield standout
Ashley Rea was named to the 2023 Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-Atlantic Region Team, the organization announced Tuesday.
Â
Receiving second team honors for the first time in her career, Rea was also honored earlier this year on the All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division Team.
Â
The D2CCA all-region teams are voted on by sports information directors in their respective regions.
Â
Rea spent her final year with The Rock by working toward her Doctorate of Occupational Therapy degree while emerging as Slippery Rock's leading goalscorer, netting eight goals. She capped off her career by posting the program's first hat trick since 2019 in a three-goal comeback draw against Gannon University in the final game of the regular season.
Â
Rea also recorded five assists on the year to combine for 21 points, her career-best season. The Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania native finished her four seasons with 139 shots, ranking her ninth all-time at Slippery Rock in both shots and shots per game with 1.93. She finishes her illustrious career at SRU having totaled 40 points on 17 goals and six assists.
Â
Rea's accolades mark Slippery Rock's first appearance to the D2CCA All-Atlantic Region team since Rachel Edge,
Nina King and Jordyn Minda all received the honor in 2021.
Â
Slippery Rock wrapped up its season in the PSAC Tournament Nov. 6 after putting up an impressive 12-4-3 overall record, its 27th consecutive winning record in a year in which a full season was played.
