SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - With just four games remaining in 2023, the Slippery Rock University field hockey team will start the stretch run of its season when it hosts Roberts Wesleyan University 4 p.m. Tuesday at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS DAY
As part of The Rock field hockey program's 2023 special events colander, Tuesday's game will be International Students Day at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium. Jenny Kawata, the Director for Global Exchanges and Partnerships at SRU, will take part in a ceremonial pass back. Among her many duties at Slippery Rock, Kawata is responsible for developing and maintaining global exchanges and partnerships.

• Freshman
Hilary Hoffman has led The Rock's efforts in her rookie year. Hoffman holds sole possession for team-high honors in total points (7), total shots (24) and shots on goal (16) in addition to being tied for first in goals scored (3) and assists (1).

Gianna Conti is SRU's other multi-goal scorer so far this season with three. Eight of Conti's nine total shots this year have been on target.

Bailee Christman has a goal and an assist this season, joining Hoffman as the only SRU athletes to have recorded at least one goal and one assist to date.

Samantha Karmonick, Grace Mayard,
Erin Roland and
Megan Rude have all scored one goal apiece.

Haley Metcalf round out Slippery Rock's offensive contributors thus far via one assist each.

Grace Burker has played every second for The Rock this year, compiling 83 saves, a .692 save percentage and a 2.69 Goals Against Average.

• Burker, who now ranks third in program history with 295 career saves, begins the week slotted second in the PSAC, and 12th in the nation, in saves per game at 6.38.

• SRU heads into the Roberts Wesleyan with per game averages of 0.92 goals, 7.1 shots and 4.5 corners while allowing 2.9 goals on 14.8 shots and 9.4 corners.  Â

SCOUTING THE REDHAWKS
• Tuesday's game will be the final contest of the season for the first-year Redhawk program. Roberts Wesleyan will be looking for its second win in program history, its first being a 3-1 victory against Wells College on Sept. 19.

• Roberts Wesleyan have been led by the trio of Katie Krawczyk, Justine Laverty and Hope Rowley who have all accounted for the first three goals of the Redhawks' existence.

• The Redhawks have used two goalkeepers this season in Avery Richardson and Abigail Henderson. Richardson has logged 555:33 of a possible 660 minutes this season, going 1-5 with 176 saves. A .701 save percentage and an 8.10 GAA. Henderson has saw time in six contests, making 15 saves (.441) and compiling a 10.91 GAA.

• With only 13 athletes on their roster, including two goalkeepers, RWU has been forced to play the equivalent of iron women hockey this year.
