LAST TIME OUT
Slippery Rock suffered a 3-1 non-conference loss in its first meeting with Roberts Wesleyan University Tuesday at James Egli Field. Arturo Pla Hernanidis netted The Rock's lone goal from an assist by Alex Plimmer.

Hossam Aly made seven saves over 80:04 while Adam Davies, in his collegiate debut, allowed no goals in just under 10 minutes of action.

PUSHING TOWARDS THE POSTSEASON
With Saturday's match marking the halfway point in SRU's PSAC West schedule, Slippery Rock currently finds itself fourth in the division with six points. The top three teams in both the PSAC West and PSAC East standings at the conclusion of the regular season qualify for the conference tournament.

The Rock are just one point behind Seton Hill for third, making Saturday's match a key one for both teams.

If Slippery Rock can secure the third spot by the end of the season it will earn its second trip to the PSAC Tournament over the last three contested seasons – there was no 2020 tournament due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

COMFORT IN EGLI FIELD
Slippery Rock enters the weekend with a 17-12-4 (.515) record, since the inaugural season of head coach Kevin Wilhelm, when welcoming its competition to James Egli Field. In those 33 matches, The Rock has beat those competitors by a +17 margin (55-38), recorded 11 shutout wins and has held those opponents to no more than one goal in 21 of the 33 contests.

DEFENSIVE STAND
Aly continues a strong senior campaign currently ranking first in the conference in saves per game (5.80), second in saves (58), seventh in save percentage (.763) and 10th in goals against average (1.82).

Tuesday's contest was the first for Davies who joined The Rock after transferring from Division I Rutgers University. Davies played 9:56 of the contest and the SRU defense did not allow a shot in his direction.

As a team, SRU has allowed just seven first-half goals this year and the eighth lowest total in the PSAC with 18.

ON THE ATTACK
Pla Hernandis was able to end SRU's two-game scoring drought with a goal against Roberts Wesleyan Tuesday. Pla Hernandis continues to lead offense with 10 points on five goals in addition to being tied for fourth in the PSAC in game-winning goals (2) and tied for seventh in goals.

With at least seven games remaining in the season, Pla Hernandis has already set career-high for goals in a season while tying his previous personal-best point total. He has also accounted for 34 percent of The Rock's shots on goal this year (13-of-38).

Following is Sean Spencer who is also tied for fourth in the conference in game-winning goals (2) to go along with five points on two goals and one assist.

Plimmer and Ramses Minaya share identical stat lines with four points on one goal and two assists apiece.

Rounding out The Rock's attack are Joe Skillicorn with three points on one goal and one assist, Max Murphy with one goal and Nathan Kortyna with an assist.

PROGRAM HISTORY UPDATES
Wilhelm enters the weekend two wins away from passing Andy Hoggarth for eighth all-time in wins by an SRU men's soccer coach with 26.

With his start Tuesday, Hillman passed Matt Hunsberger (2016-19) on the list of consecutive starts by an SRU men's soccer team, gaining sole possession of eighth with 33 starts. With at least seven contests remaining this year, Hillman has the potential to end his career fifth.
