SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's track and field team won 10 events at the SRU Invitational Thursday at the William Lennox Track at The Rock.

Slippery Rock hosted its third and final home meet of the season on a frigid and blustery day that saw a much smaller field in attendance compared to the first two home meets, with athletes representing eight institutions competing Thursday.

The Rock picked up wins in five of the six track events they had athletes entered in, including both the short sprints, both hurdle races and the 4x100-meter relay.

Bryan Dworek led the way in the 200-meter dash in 22.09 seconds with Mitch Vleminckx placing fourth in 23.27 seconds and Gavin Thomas finishing fifth in 23.37 seconds. Dworek also picked up a win in the long jump with a new career-best effort of 7.23 meters, just shy of the NCAA provisional mark of 7.26 meters. Vleminckx was third with a leap of 6.27 meters, followed by Zack Duda in fourth at 6.23 meters.

Parker Reed claimed the top spot in the 100-meter dash in 11.03 seconds with Jonathan Marfisi placing third in 11.25 seconds and Damion Reed Jr. finishing fourth in 11.83 seconds.

Marfisi, Vleminckx, Reed and Dworek also teamed together to win the 4x100-meter relay in 42.87 seconds.

Zach Wise took top honors in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.19 seconds and Gunner Coleman won the 400-meter hurdles in 59.09 seconds. Reed Jr. was second in 1:00.67 and Cade Gratzmiller was third in 1:01.25.

Coleman, Reed, Reed Jr. and Thomas closed out the day by placing second in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:35.31.

The Rock won both horizontal jumps on the day with Taye Lynch picking up the win in the triple jump with a leap of 12.76 meters.

Dan Hyatt led a 1-2-3 sweep in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.51 meters. Reese Burwell was second at 4.36 meters and David Duffey was third with a mark of 4.06 meters.

Dylan Close led a sweep of the top two places in the javelin with a winning throw of 55.38 meters. Nate Marchand was second at 46.02 meters.

The final win of the day came in the hammer, where Alec Morris registered a throw of 50.62 meters. Joshua VanDeMark was fourth at 46.71 meters and Brandon McCray was fifth at 46.56 meters.

Morris also took second in the discus with a throw of 42.67 meters, with Eric Schulz placing third at 42.16 meters and Brennan McTighe finishing fifth at 41.25 meters. Schultz was also second in the shot put with a toss of 14.26 meters, with McTighe following in fifth place at 13.59 meters.
