SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team will look to score an upset victory when it takes on No. 8 Indiana University (Pa.) in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division game 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Morrow Field House.

Brooke Hinderliter bounced back from an uncharacteristically off night in The Rock's recent game at Clarion to record 17 points, nine rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block over 37 minutes of playing time against the Vulcans.

Olivia Fusaro had one of the best games of her young career a season ago at IUP when she came off the bench to give The Rock 15 points, five rebounds and one steal over 18 minutes of playing time.

SLIPPERY ROCK WINS vs. TOP 25 TEAMS
A victory by Slippery Rock against eighth-ranked Indiana would mark the highest ranked team that SRU has defeated in program history. To date, Slippery Rock has 10 wins all-time against teams ranked in the top 25 by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.

Slippery Rock's most recent win against a nationally ranked team came a year ago when SRU scored a 72-61 victory at home over No. 10 California (Pa.).

SRU has one win all-time against IUP when the Crimson Hawks have been ranked in the form of a 89-78 win in 1999-00 when IUP was slotted 10th.

DEFENSE PICKING UP
Through the first eight games of the season Slippery Rock allowed opponents to score 79.5 points per game while shooting 42.7 percent from the field. However, The Rock's defensive efforts have stepped up over the last five games as opponent scoring is down to 71.8 points per game with a 37.5 field goal percentage over that stretch.

SUSTAINED SUCCESS AT THE FOUL LINE
Despite only being awarded 23 total free throw attempts over its last two games (11.5 attempts per game), which is drastically down from its season average of 21.2 foul shots per game, Slippery Rock still heads into Wednesday's game ranked 14th in the nation, and second in the PSAC, in free throws made this season (223) and 24th in free throw attempts (297).

SRU ranks third in the PSAC in free throw shooting percentage as well at .751. Seven Rock players are shooting at least 70 percent at the foul line this season including Hinderliter (.847),

HINDERLITER CONTINUES TO CLIMB ALL-TIME POINTS LIST
Hinderliter enters the IUP game ranked sixth in program history for points in a career with 1,446.

Hinderliter, who is averaging 18.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.0 steals per game on the season, is on pace to finish her career with 1,728 points which would rank second in program history record for points in a career behind only Heather Kearney (1,760 points / 1995-99).

Currently she is four points away from surpassing Jackie Altenweg (1,449 points / 1998-02) and moving into fifth place in program history for points in a career.

JOHNSON CRACKS ALL-TIME SCORING LEDGER
It has taken Johnson under three seasons to break into Slippery Rock's all-time scoring leaders list. Johnson, who previously played at Division I Saint Francis University, has scored 696 points at The Rock over 68 games dating back to the 2017-18 season. She enters the IUP game slotted 31st in program history for points in career and is on pace to finish her career as one of SRU's top 15 scorers of all-time.

This season, Johnson is second on the team in scoring at 15.8 points per game on 43.9 percent shooting from the field while also grabbing 5.7 rebounds a game, the second-highest average of any Slippery Rock athlete. Included in Johnson's offensive numbers are a team-high 15 3-pointers.

UPTICK IN ASSISTS FROM QUICK
Daeja Quick had just four assists for SRU in three games against Shepherd, Notre Dame and Kutztown, but has rebounded to dish out 14 assists (4.7 apg) over SRU's most recent three games against West Chester, Clarion and Cal U. Most recently, Quick handed out six assists against Cal U.

The Rock's top point guard currently leads the team in assists on the season with 3.4 per game while also scoring 11.8 ppg, grabbing 3.6 rebounds and making 1.2 steals a night.

BLOCK PARTY FOR KETTERER
Karington Ketterer matched her career-high with three blocks in The Rock's loss at Cal U. The three rejections moved her into a tie for the team lead in total blocks this season with Curd at 10 apiece.

In addition to her blocks Ketterer has started every game for Slippery Rock in 2019-20, scoring 3.6 points and grabs 4.7 rebounds per game.

GIBSON APPROACHING THE 500/500 CLUB
Thanks to what has been a career-year, Gibson is currently on pace to become just the 17th player in program history to record 500 points and 500 rebounds in career.

Entering the Indiana game, Gibson has scored 534 points and grabbed 418 rebounds. With 15 games remaining in the regular season she needs to average 5.4 rebounds per contest the rest of the year to achieve the feat.

Gibson is enjoying a career-year as a senior with per game averages of 8.1 points and 8.1 rebounds per game over 11 starts all the while leading The Rock in field goal percentage at 44.1 percent.

• One of the top defensive teams in the nation, Indiana ranks sixth in the country in field goal percentage defense, 11th in rebounding margin, 12th in scoring defense, 19th in blocked shots and 25th in 3-point field goal percentage defense.

• The IUP offense revolves around Justina Mascaro, Natalie Myers and Lexi Griggs. Mascaro leads the team in scoring at 15.8 points per game with Myers and Griggs chipping in 12.8 and 12.7 ppg, respectively. Myers ranks second in Division II in 3-point shooting (50.8 percent).
