Hi everyone!
We began our first full day in Costa Rica by running a small session at a local school. While we couldn't speak fluently to the kids (many of us putting our grade school Spanish classes to work), we were able to communicate through our love of the beautiful game and laughter. Tears were shed by both parties as we left and the school was very grateful for the donations we brought along with us. It's an experience we'll never forget and we can't wait to work with more kids!
We then went on a city tour around San José and got to learn about some of the country's history. They're currently undergoing projects to beautify the city and let us tell you, it's working. The amazing architecture surrounded by the local flora, complete with panoramic mountains views, made for some pretty great pictures.
After some much needed jet-lagged naps, we went down to one of the stadiums to play a local club team. As our first game together as a team, we put up a good fight to earn a tie against an equipo that boasts national team players (who, lucky for us, are currently competing internationally).
We can't wait for what the rest of our time here has to offer, as the first day was so great. Keep checking in at @sru_ws on Instagram to keep up with our adventures! Our paparazzi is also updating his instagram page with a taste of the action, so be sure to check our @mjschnelle on instagram too!
