SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team improves to 7-0-0 at home this season as
Abby Paterline's 82
nd minute game-winner propelled Slippery Rock to a 1-0 victory over Indiana University (Pa.) in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division play Saturday at James Egli Field.
Slippery Rock improved to 7-2-1 overall and finished the first cycle of round robin play in the PSAC West with a 6-1-1 record, while IUP's overall record dropped to 3-3-3 overall with a 3-3-2 mark inside the division.
With the result, SRU is now 13-0-2 in its last 15 games at James Egli Field with a +32 goal differential (41-9).
The Rock kept its three-point lead over Gannon University in the PSAC West standings, as each team claimed a shutout victory.
Paterline's goal was her third of the season, as well as her second game-winning goal of the campaign, while
Sophia Palermo dished out her second assist of the year on Paterline's goal.
Palermo paced The Rock with three shots, including one on goal.
Jordyn Constable (2),
Summer Hill (2) and
Jilly Deivert (2) also took multiple shots for SRU, while Paterline,
Peyton Los,
Libby Earley,
Lilia Battalini and
Lindsey Price each took one shot.
Leah Allman became Slippery Rock's all-time leader in goalie starts with 65, as Allman made two saves in her 22
nd career clean sheet.
After a scoreless first half, Slippery Rock edged ahead of IUP when Hill the ball into the box, finding the head of Palermo, as the ball fell to Paterline's left foot and into the back of the net.
The Rock ended the game with advantages in shots (14-5), shots on goal (7-2) and corner kicks (9-3).
Slippery Rock begins a three-game road trip and starts the second cycle of round robin play in the PSAC West with a matchup at Edinboro 5:30 p.m. Sept. 30 at Sox Harrison Stadium.Â
