Seton Hill defeated Slippery Rock in Greensburg, Pa, 2-1 on Oct. 19. SRU opened the scoring in the 44th minute when
Alejandro Fernandez lined a free kick through the Griffin defense for his fifth score of 2019, giving The Rock an early 1-0 lead.

SHU tied the score in the 49th minute when Alex Dysen played a pass from Liam Kettle into the goal to tie the contest at one apiece. The Griffins pulled ahead when Lloyd Davis scored in the 73rd minute with Tormod Simonsen to secure the 2-1 victory for Seton Hill.

SCOUTING THE ROCK

LAST TIME OUT – Slippery Rock defeated Mercyhurst at home, 1-0. The Rock opened the scoring in the 35th minute when
Mo Kanani lined a shot through the center of the Laker zone for the early 1-0 lead.

The Rock defense went to work following the score, led by goalkeeper
Matt Hunsberger. Hunsberger finished the afternoon with a career-high 14 saves while The Rock defense turned away the remaining nine MU shots, securing the 1-0 victory for Slippery Rock.

Brian McCarthy,
Abdallah Bangura and Kanani with two shots each.

STANDINGS CHECK – Gannon University sits atop the PSAC Western Division standings with 12 points followed by Mercyhurst and Seton Hill who are tied for second with seven points.

KEEPER COUNT – Hunsberger recorded a career-high 14 saves against Mercyhurst Wednesday afternoon leading to his fourth solo-shutout of the season.

On the season, Hunsberger has a .803 save percentage along with a 1.17 goals against average and 57 saves.

ROCK SOLID DEFENSE – One constant for the 2019 Slippery Rock men's soccer has been its defense. The Rock has pitched five shutouts in 2019, while allowing more than two goals just two times this season.

PSAC LEADERS – Bangura is tied for first in the PSAC with three game-winning goals along with ranking second in shots on goal with 25 and third in total shots with 40. The sophomore's six goals are tied for fifth most in the conference.

Among PSAC goalkeepers, Hunsberger is tied for third in shutouts with three while having the second-highest save percentage in the conference at .803.

As a team, Slippery Rock is tied for second with 27 goals scored while ranking ninth with 23 goals allowed. SRU is one of six teams in the PSAC to have a positive scoring differential (+0.24).

AGAINST SETON HILL – Fernandez leads the way for SRU in scoring against Seton Hill with a goal scored earlier this season.

Last time out: Seton Hill fell to Salem University in overtime at home, 2-1. The Griffins opened the scoring in the 64th minute when Simonsen scored on a pass from Alex Dysen to give SHU the 1-0 advantage.

Salem tied the game when Mark Fereczi-Bako scored off a penalty kick in the 83rd minute to tie the score at one apiece.In the first overtime period, Ferenczi-Bako secured a 2-1 victory for the Tigers in the 100th minute on an unassisted score.

• Seton Hill is led on offense by Archie Lock who has a team-high 12 points on six goals followed by Daniel Van Gorp with eight points on four goals. Nick Desantis has guided the Griffin offense with a team-best two assists followed by Lloyd Davies, Simonsen and Dysen who have one assist each.
