Rock to end homestand vs. IUP

The Slippery Rock field hockey team will cap off its five-game homestand when it hosts Indiana (Pa.) 7 p.m. Wednesday at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University field hockey team will cap off its five-game homestand when it hosts Indiana University (Pa.) 7 p.m. Wednesday at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference showdown.

SERIES HISTORY vs. INDIANA
IUP holds a 41-19-1 lead over The Rock in the all-time series,  but SRU has won two of the last three games in the series. Both of those wins came at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

SLIPPERY ROCK NOTES
Last Time Out: Slippery Rock lost to No. 1 Millersville 7-1 on Sept. 29.
 
• Jessie Trube and Kayla Ulrich begin the week with identical stat lines of 10 points on four goals and two assists to lead The Rock's attack. The duo have also accounted for 22 of SRU's 56 shots on goal.
 
• Courtney Page and Addy Ross are tied for third on the team in points with four. Ross has scored two goals while Page, who scored The Rock's lone goal against Millersville, has one goal and two assists.
 
• Emily Polakovsky, Lauren Marks and Abby McKay have all added one goal apiece for The Rock as well.
 
• McKay has scored two goals over her career against IUP. Ulrich is the only other active Rock athlete to have scored a goal against the Crimson Hawks.
 
• Goalkeepers Maddie Murphy and Hannah Nurse have split time this season. Murphy has started five games, going 1-4 with 24 saves (.667) and a 2.84 Goals Against Average. Nurse has started three games and is 1-2 with 31 saves (.775) and a 3.73 Goals Against Average.
 
• Murphy has played in three games all-time against IUP, two of which were starts. In 175 minutes of playing time versus Indiana, Murphy is 2-1 with 14 saves and three goals allowed.
 
• Kalie Reed is tied for second in the PSAC in defensive saves with two stops. Holly Stiller, Brenna McGovern-Lind and Jordan Barnes all have one defensive save this year as well.
 
• Ulrich, Page, Polakovsky, McKay, Reed, Stiller, Barnes and Lacey Bayley have each started all eight games this season.
 
• Barnes and Ulrich have both started 45 straight games for The Rock, which ranks 11th in program history.
 
• Barnes has now played in 51 consecutive games over her collegiate career. She is six games away from tying Allison Banks and Lisa Belcastro for the 10th most consecutive games played in program history.
 
• The third quarter of games have proven to be problematic for The Rock this season. In the first, second and fourth quarters of contests this season SRU is just a combined -3 (15-12) in goal differential. However, in the third quarter alone The Rock is -4 (6-2).
 
• SRU heads into Wednesday's game ranked seventh in the PSAC in shots on goal (56), seventh in goals scored (14) and ninth in goals allowed (21).
 
RECORDS WATCH
• Ulrich already ranks second in program history for points in a career with 52 and third in career goals with 23. While she is still 29 points away from catching Megan McKay (2013-16) for The Rock's career points record, Ulrich only needs three goals to pass Marlene Hall (1985-88) for second place on SRU career goal ledger.
 
• Ulrich and Page are part of a six-way tie for 14th place in program history for assists in a career at six each.
 
• Murphy currently ranks third for Slippery Rock in career wins (12), fourth in career goals against average (2.18), fifth in saves (179) and sixth in save percentage (.728).

Last Time Out: Indiana fell at home to No. 3 East Stroudsburg, 4-0, on Sept. 28.
 
• The Crimson Hawks enter Mihalik-Thompson Stadium in need of a win. After winning its first four games of the season, IUP has lost four straight contests. Indiana is being outscored 13-1 over its losing streak.
 
• Goalkeeper Lexi Ciano has started all eight games this season, allowing 10 goals and making 17 saves (.630) over 425 minutes played.
 
• Blaise Cugini and Brianne Lubarsky are tied for the IUP lead in goals scored with three apiece. Kimberly Kelly guides the offense with a team-best three assists. Juliette Sauter has registered the Crimson Hawks' lone defensive save this year. 
 
• As a team, IUP ranks seventh in the PSAC in goals allowed (13), eighth in shots on goal (54) and ninth in goals scored (10).
 
• Kelly has a goal and an assist against The Rock over her career.
