CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University outdoor track and field teams combined for 11 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying marks Saturday at the Early Bird Invitational hosted by California University of Pennsylvania.
 
The Rock women's team recorded five PSAC marks and picked up one event win, while the men's team recorded six PSAC qualifying marks.
 
The highlight of the meet came in the women's 800-meter run, where SRU swept the top two places and had three runners reach the PSAC standard. Caitlyn Janeda won the race in 2:19.05, followed by Madison Przicina in second in 2:19.82. Kacey Raible also hit the PSAC mark with a sixth place finish in 2:22.53.
 
Katie Teed had the next best finish for the women's team with a third place showing in the 400-meter hurdles with a PSAC mark of 1:05.88.
 
The final PSAC qualifying mark for the women's team belonged to Juliet Ryan in the 1,500-meter run, where she placed eighth in 4:56.28.
 
On the men's side, Josiah Davis recorded a pair of PSAC qualifying marks in the jumping events and three SRU athletes hit the standard in the 400-meter hurdles.
 
Davis placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 13.78 meters and was fourth in the high jump with a clearance of 1.90 meters.
 
Zach Wise led the way in the 400-meter hurdles with a third place finish in 57.27 seconds. Gunner Coleman was fourth in 57.69 seconds and Kyle Edgar was fifth in 57.95 seconds as all three SRU runners dipped below the PSAC mark of 58.00 seconds.
 
The final PSAC mark on the men's side belonged to Josh Rader, who placed fifth in the 1,500-meter run in 4:02.38.
 
Slippery Rock competed with a limited roster Saturday due to inclement weather conditions and the meet canceling all throwing events. The majority of The Rock's top athletes will return to action next weekend at the Adidas Raleigh Relays at North Carolina State University.
