Rock primed for PSAC showdown at West Chester

The Slippery Rock women’s soccer team will head to West Chester for a PSAC matchup 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team will head to West Chester University for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference matchup 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

LAST MEETING
Slippery Rock fell to West Chester, 2-1, last year on Oct. 21, 2017. WCU scored two goals in the second half and held on for a 2-1 victory.  
 
SERIES HISTORY
West Chester leads the all-time series, 19-8-0. The Golden Rams have won the last four matches against Slippery Rock. SRU's last win was back in 2013.
 
PLAYOFF PICTURE
The top eight teams in the PSAC standings qualify for the PSAC Tournament. Three teams have already clinched a PSAC Tournament berth including Kutztown, Bloomsburg and Millersville. West Chester, Lock Haven, Seton Hill and East Stroudsburg are currently in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh spots, respectively. SRU is in the eighth spot with a six-point lead over Gannon. SRU is also two points behind Seton Hill for seventh. SHU has the head-to-head tiebreaker in that spot if SRU and SHU tie.

SCOUTING THE ROCK
• LAST TIME OUT – SRU is coming of a 2-0 shutout victory over Mercyhurst on Wednesday. Brooke Testa and Sofia Harrison tallied the goals while Jordyn Minda and Skye Kramer registered one assist apiece.  
 
• ATLANTIC REGION RANKINGS – SRU is currently eighth in the first Atlantic Region rankings released by the NCAA. The top six teams in the final regional rankings will earn berth in the NCAA playoffs.  
 
• MILESTONE AFTER MILESTONE – Earlier this season, SRU locked up its 23rd consecutive winning season. Following its win over Mercyhurst, The Rock won its 10th game of the season which marked its 21st straight year with at least 10 wins.  
 
• TOPS ON THE ROSTER – Testa, Kramer and Minda each recorded points in Wednesday's contest. Testa and Kramer are tied for the team lead in points with 13 on four goals and five assists each. Minda is third on the roster and has recorded five goals and two assists tallying 12 points.  
 
• THE DEFENSE – SRU's defense is tied for second in the conference in team shutouts with nine and is fifth in the PSAC in goals against average (0.79).
 
• DOWNS MAKING STOPS – Goalkeeper Kylie Downs has registered a 1.04 goals against average and a .803 save percentage. Downs has also tallied six shutouts which is tied for third in the PSAC.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN RAMS
• Kendall Rich has registered 12 points on six goals and leads the team.
 
• Madison Baxter is second on the roster in total points with 11 on four points on three assists.
 
• McKenna Mullin has recorded a 7-3-1 record along with a 0.81 goals against average. She also has a .842 save percentage.      
 
• West Chester is currently receiving votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches national poll and is fifth in the first NCAA Atlantic Region rankings

SRU will conclude its regular season with a PSAC match 1 p.m. Oct. 27 against Shippensburg University.
