SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The fifth-ranked Slippery Rock University field hockey team will host No. 1 Shippensburg 12 p.m. Saturday for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference matchup at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

SRU HURRICANE RELIEF EFFORT
The Rock field hockey team will be collecting donations and hosting a hurricane relief game against Shippensburg University as part of SRU's campus-wide fundraising initiative to help those effected by the recent hurricanes in Texas and Florida. All money collected will be donated in a lump sum to the SRU Foundation / SNA Hurricane fund. Donations in the form of checks will also be accepted. All checks should be made payable to "SRU Foundation / SNA Hurricane".

LAST MEETING
Shippensburg defeated Slippery Rock, 5-2, in a non-conference matchup at the Robb Sports Complex on Sept. 16, 2017. The Raiders received two goals apiece from Emily Bernard and Mary Spisak, with Brooke Sheibley adding one score. The Rock saw goals from

Shippensburg has the all-time series edge against The Rock with a record of 43-6-1. The Raiders currently own a 32-game winning streak against SRU, with Slippery Rock's last win coming in 1998. Shippensburg has been known as a powerhouse in field hockey during the past several years, as the Raiders have won two national titles since 2013 and have been ranked in the top five of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association top 10 poll in 12 of its last 15 games against The Rock dating back to 2009.

SCOUTING THE ROCK

LAST TIME OUT – The Rock fell to Mansfield, 4-0, in a PSAC road matchup on Oct. 3 for its first conference loss of the season. The Mountaineers received two goals from Larissa Motts, with Mikaila Chakon and Katie Lipski each adding one goal apiece. As a team, Mansfield led Slippery Rock in shots (18-15) and penalty corners (7-6), but trailed in shots on goal (8-7).

ROCK NATIONAL RANKINGS – Slippery Rock earned a fifth place ranking in the Penn Monto / National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division II national poll for its play so far this season. As a team, The Rock ranks fourth in Division II in defensive saves (seven) and tenth in winning percentage (.667). Individually, Mack and Wolfe are tied for ninth in defensive saves with three apiece.

ROCK NATIONAL RANKINGS HISTORY – The top-five ranking is an all-time high for the program in the modern era and also marks the fourth year in which head coach
Julie Swiney has guided The Rock to a spot in the national poll. In 2012, Slippery Rock spent seven weeks ranked in the NFCHA top 10, climbing to as high as eighth in the nation for three of those weeks. SRU also spent time in the national rankings for one week in 2013 and two weeks in 2014.

WINNING WAYS – Slippery Rock's eight wins on the year is its highest total since the 2014 season, when the team finished 9-10. If The Rock can keep up its current play, SRU has the chance to finish the season with a winning record for the first time since 1998, when the team finished 8-6.

SLIPPERY ROCK SCORER'S – The Rock has received goals from 11 players so far this season. Ulrich leads the team with eight scores, followed by Krupski and
Brittany Morgan with four apiece.

SWITCHABLE STOPPERS – For a majority of Slippery Rock's 11 games this season, SRU has implemented a system of starting goalkeeper
Nicole Bream at the beginning of the game and subbing in
Maddie Murphy for the second half. Bream is 3-3 with 30 saves, a 1.51 goals against average and a .789 save percentage in 10 starts. In 12 games played (two starts), Murphy is 5-1 with 29 saves, a 1.64 goals against average and a .725 save percentage.

FRESHMEN TO FEAR – The Rock has had four players crack the top 10 of various SRU freshman record book categories. Ulrich ranks first in shots (48), shots on goal (38), points (18), is tied for first in goals (eight) and tied for fourth in assists (two). Morgan is tied for fourth in points (10), goals (four) and assists (two). Page is also tied for fourth in assists (two). Murphy currently ranks fourth in goalie minutes (469:53) and fifth in saves (29).

SCOUTING THE RAIDERS
• Shippensburg enters the game having won a home PSAC matchup against No. 5 West Chester, 3-2, on Oct. 3.
• The Raiders currently rank first in Division II in penalty corners per game (14.50), fourth in goals per game (3.70), points per game (9.80), save percentage (.813), scoring average (3.61), and winning percentage (.900) while also ranking fifth in assists per game (2.40). Individually, Jazmin Petrantonio ranks second in assists per game (1.00), Kylie Huffman ranks fourth in defensive saves (four), Emily Barnard ranks fourth in goals per game (1.20) and points per game (2.50) and goalkeeper Ally Mooney ranks fifth in save percentage (.803).
• Shippensburg has received goals from nine players so far this season. Barnard leads the team with 12, followed by Spisak and Rebecca Bouyea with six goals each. Sheibley has registered five goals while Petrantonio has recorded four of her own. Kylie Huffman, Madison Scarr, Aerin Kolfoort and Megan Green have all added one goal apiece.
• Eight players have also recorded assists for the Raiders. Petrantonio has 10 on the year, followed by Spisak with four and Sheibley with three. Huffman and Lauren Zenqulis have two each, while Barnard, Scarr and Maddie Parr have all added one helper apiece.
• Two goalkeepers have seen time at net for Shippensburg this season. Mooney has started all 10 games, recording 53 saves, a 1.38 goals against average and a .803 save percentage. Catherine Matuszko has played in two games, recording two saves, a 1.22 goals against average and a .667 save percentage in 57 minutes of action.
