Rock set to host Mansfield

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team will look to continue its recent string of strong play against Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference opponents with a win over Mansfield University 1 p.m. Saturday at James Egli Field.

SCOUTING THE ROCK
• Last Time Out: Slippery defeated Mercyhurst, 1-0, Sept. 20 behind a Tyler Spence goal and a stifling defensive effort that allowed just one Mercyhurst shot.
 
• Slippery Rock has won two out of its last three games to improve its record to 3-4 on the year overall and 3-2 in PSAC play
 
• SRU has allowed just two goals in the second half of games this season. Overall, Slippery Rock has surrendered eight goals this season, the seventh fewest among all PSAC teams.
 
• Slippery Rock's one shot allowed against Mercyhurst was the lowest shot total by a Rock opponent since SRU held West Virginia Wesleyan to one shot in a 1-0 victory on Sept. 24, 2012 (82 games).
 
• Goalkeeper Kylie Downs has started four games this season, including each of the last three matches, and is 2-2 on the year with one shutout, a 0.65 goals against average, three goals allowed, nine saves and a .750 save percentage. Downs enters the weekend ranked third in the league in goals against average.
 
• Spence's goal against Mercyhurst was the first of her career. She is currently tied with Sam Thornton for third on the team in goals scored behind co-leaders Maddy Tletski and Brooke Testa, who have scored two goals each.
 
• Miranda Gallucci has a Rock-best two assists in 2016 with Thornton, Keeley, Demich and Andrea Felix all adding one assist as well.
 
• Saturday's match will be Neef's 65th game played at Slippery Rock. Demich reached the 65-game plateau against Mercyhurst and is The Rock's active leader in career games played. Thornton is closing in on her 60th appearance with 58 games played.
 
• As they have done against most teams in the PSAC over their great careers, the duo of Demich and Felix have faired well against Mansfield historically. Demich has three goals, two assists and 14 shots on goal over three games against the Mounties while Felix has produced one goal and one assist with three shots on goal in two games.
