Rock hits the road to play #2 Shippensburg

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University field hockey team will play a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference game at No. 2 Shippensburg University 11 a.m. Saturday.

Shippensburg defeated Slippery Rock, 1-0, last season on Oct. 13, 2015 in a PSAC game. Megan McKay tallied three shots for SRU while Kayla Mack added one. Mack also recorded a defensive save and goalkeeper Carlee DuMars registered nine saves in the loss.

SCOUTING THE ROCK
Last time out: Slippery Rock won at home against Mansfield University, 2-0, thanks to goals from Hannah Shirk and McKay.
 
• Slippery Rock's offense is led by McKay, who has recorded a team-high 16 points off of seven goals and two assists. McKay, who is fourth in the PSAC in both total points and goals, ranks ninth in the nation in points per game at 1.45.
 
• McKay is already SRU's all-time leader in points and goals and needs one more assist to become the Rock's all-time leader in that category as well.
 
Renee Rosenblum and Hannah Downing are both chipping in offensively as well, posting personal-bests in goals scored in a season with three and two, respectively.
 
• The quintet of Hannah Simone, Torri Rose, Jordan Barnes, Shirk and Allison Grant round out The Rock's goal scorers with one apiece.
 
Kailee Krupski assisted on both Rock goals in the Mansfield win. She was the first Rock player to assist on multiple goals in a game since Savanna Robinson earlier in the season. Krupski has four assists on the year, a career-high and the second most in the PSAC.
 
Liz Wolfe and Mack have been stellar defensively recording five defensive saves and three defensive saves, respectively. Wolfe, who has four defensive saves in the last four games, ranks second in the nation in the category and Mack is tied for eighth. The Rock is tied for second in Division II field hockey with eight total defensive saves.
 
• Goalkeeper Nicole Bream has started and played every second of all 11 games this season and has 66 saves, a .759 save percentage and a 1.909 goals against average. Bream ranks second in the PSAC in total saves. The shutout against Mansfield was her third of the season.

• Shippensburg has four players in double-digits for total points in Katelyn Grazan (17), Noelle Kephart (13), Brooke Zeiders (10) and Cassie Rawa (10).

• Shippensburg's best offensive player is Grazan. Grazan has recorded 17 total points off of eight goals and one assist which ranks second in the PSAC.
