SCOUTING THE ROCK
•
Last Time Out: Slippery Rock was upended on the road at West Chester, 3-0, on Oct. 15.
• With 2-4-2 record in league play Slippery Rock is still in the hunt for a spot in the PSAC Tournament. The top six teams in the final league standings qualify for the postseason tournament. SRU is currently in ninth place, but just five points behind sixth-place East Stroudsburg, with whom it holds a tiebreaker over, with three games to play.
• A win over Seton Hill would put Slippery Rock in a great position to make a run at the postseason as it would then wrap up the regular season against a Lock Haven team that has lost seven of its last eight games and a Pitt-Johnstown squad that is just 1-7 in league play. The chance even remains for SRU to climb as high as fifth in the PSAC standings at the end of the year if certain results from around the league fall its way, but for that possibility to even be entertained centers around a Rock victory over the Griffins.
• SRU begins the week ranked fifth in the conference in goals allowed with 18. If Slippery Rock finishes the season ranked in the top five in goals allowed it would mark the sixth time in the last eight years that The Rock has accomplished the defensive feat.
• Slippery Rock has been led on the year offensively by
Jacob Thiel, who has scored a career-best three goals. Thiel has been extremely accurate in 2016; five of his seven total shots have been on goal with three of the shots on goal going for scores.
•
Justin Minda,
Nick Sodini,
Kenton Keeslar,
Patrick Sullivan,
Ethan Augustin and
Adolfo Segura have all added one goal each.
• The trio of Minda,
George Oakley and
Mike Pcholinsky have all passed out two assists. Sodini,
Anthony Werth and
Devin Hoffman have accounted for The Rock's other three assists.
• Pcholinsky and Oakley have produced 41 of The Rock's 136 shots (30.1 percent) this season with 21 and 20 attempts, respectively.
Kyle Boyer (13),
Josh Allman (11), Minda (10), Sodini (10) and Keeslar (10) all have double digit shot totals as well.
• Goalkeeper
Steven Rerick has started SRU's last four games and is 1-4-1 on the season with 33 saves (.786) and a 1.46 goals against average. Fellow goalkeeper
Jonathan Sharp has also started seven games and is 2-4-1 with 28 saves (.778) and a 1.21 goals against average.
• Pcholinsky scored his first collegiate goal against Seton Hill as a freshman in 2013. In three games over his career against SHU, Pcholinsky has one goal and three shots. The only other Rock players to have played more than one game against Seton Hill over their careers are Boyer (two games), Allman (two) and Rerick (two).
• Slippery Rock is 12-6-1 (.658) in conference games played at Egli Field in October since 2004.

SCOUTING THE GRIFFINS
•

• Goalkeeper Austin Iddon is 6-5 with 37 saves, a .698 save percentage, a 1.35 goals against average and one shutout. Backup Jacin Smith is 2-1 with five saves (.417) and a 3.09 goals against average.
