Surging Rock continues PSAC play at Mansfield

Slippery Rock looks to continue its climb up the PSAC standings with a win Saturday at Mansfield. A victory would extend The Rock’s winning streak to five matches.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team will look to continue its climb up the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference standings with a win Saturday at Mansfield University. A victory would extend The Rock's winning streak to five matches.

LAST MEETING
Slippery Rock extended its winning streak to three games with a 1-0 double overtime victory at Mansfield Oct. 25, 2014 thanks to a goal by former Rock great Brooke Edwards in the 109th minute. Edwards had a season-high three shots on goal in the game.

SCOUTING THE ROCK
• Last time out: Slippery Rock extended its winning streak to four games with a 4-0 win against Mercyhurst on the road Sept. 23 in league play.
 
• A win over Mansfield would give the program its 15th winning streak of at least five games all-time. The SRU record for longest winning streak is 11 games, set in 2011.
 
• Senior midfielder Crysta Ganter, junior forward Andrea Felix and junior forward Dara Demich have all enjoyed success throughout their careers against Mansfield. Demich has scored two goals, Felix has one goal and one assist while Ganter has one goal against the Mountaineers.
 
• Slippery Rock's recent hot streak has started to vault The Rock up the national statistical leaderboards. Entering the weekend, SRU ranks 15th in the nation in total goals (22), 15th in total points (57), 17th in goals per game (3.14) and 21st in total assists (13).
 
• Inside the PSAC, Slippery Rock ranks first in goals scored and second in goals allowed (five).
 
• Slippery Rock has scored at least four goals in three out of its last four games. If SRU were to score four or more goals against Mansfield it would mark just the second time in program history that SRU has scored four goals in four out of five games. The last time it happened was during the 1996 season.
 
• After scoring four goals in the last three games, Demich now leads The Rock in both goals (six) and points (14). She currently ranks 19th in the nation in goals scored.
 
• With a goal and an assist against Mercyhurst, sophomore midfielder Tess Keeley now has one goal and a team-best three assists on the year.
 
• Felix ranks second for SRU behind Demich in both goals (five) and points (12).
 
• Senior midfielder Caitlin Binder and freshman forward Brooke Testa are The Rock's other two multi-goal scorers at two goals apiece.
 
• Freshman goalkeeper Charlotte Elrod has tallied three shutouts in the first seven games of her Rock career. Elrod, who also has 17 saves and a .773 save percentage, ranks third in the PSAC in goals against average at .714.

SCOUTING MANSFIELD
• Last time out: Mansfield gave No. 17 West Chester all it could handle in a tight 1-0 loss Sept. 23.

• No freshman has had as big of an impact on her team as Mansfield's Delaney Meadows. Through the first six games of her collegiate career, Meadows has scored a PSAC-best eight goals.

• Kelsey Chapman, Danielle Lentz and Kaitlin Holborn have all scored one goal apiece as well with Chapman also adding three assists.

• Goalkeeper Rachel Fox has started all six games for Mansfield this season, totaling 41 saves (.745) and a 2.33 goals against average.

• Mansfield ranks fifth in the PSAC in goals allowed (14) and ninth in goals scored (11).
