SCOUTING THE ROCK•
Last time out: Slippery Rock was unable to maintain an early one-goal lead as Le Moyne came back to score three unanswered goals to defeat SRU, 3-1, Oct. 13.
• Slippery Rock begins its final four games of the regular season slotted fifth in the conference standings with 12 points while West Chester is in a tie for sixth place with 10 points. Both teams are still in contention to earn one of the six spots in the PSAC Tournament. Slippery Rock has made the PSAC Tournament in six out of the last seven seasons.
• While a win on Saturday by either team wouldn't clinch a tournament spot, it would provide a much-needed cushion heading into the final two weeks of the season, as there are currently four teams within three points of each other for fifth and sixth place in the PSAC standings.
• Since 2003, SRU is 34-16-9 (.653) in games played at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.
• Historically, Slippery Rock has rebounded nicely after non-league losses. Since 2004, SRU is 11-5-1 following non-conference setbacks.
• Senior defender
Ryan Lutke scored SRU's goal at Le Moyne; the goal was his team-leading seventh of the season, which also ranks fifth among all PSAC players.
• Senior forward
Peter Boylan has been on a tear of late with one goal and two assists in his last three matches to push his season point total to eight off of two goals and four assists.
• In addition to Lutke and Boylan, four other Rock players have scored at least two goals this season in senior forward
Mike Ilodigwe (three), junior forward
Matt Sangermano (two), junior midfielder
Mike Pcholinsky (two) and freshman midfielder
Justin Minda (two).
• Senior goalkeeper
Kyle Hoffer has started eight games this season and is 5-3 with three shutouts, a 1.05 goals against average and 24 saves (.727).
• Slippery Rock enters the week ranked third in the league in goals allowed (16) and fourth in goals scored (22).
• Rock head coach
Andy Hoggarth is one win shy of his 20th victory at SRU. If Slippery Rock beats West Chester, Hoggarth would reach the 20-win mark in 32 games and become the third fastest head coach in SRU history to 20 wins behind John Eiler (26 games) and Archie Dodds (28 games).
