SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The tenth-ranked Slippery Rock University field hockey team looks to snap a three-game winless streak in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action Tuesday against reigning national champion and No. 2 Shippensburg. The game is set to get underway at 4 p.m. from Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

Records: Slippery Rock enters Tuesday's PSAC showdown riding a three game losing streak, dropping to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in league play. All three of SRU's losses have been decided by a single goal.

Shippensburg enters Tuesday's game with a 4-1 overall record and 2-1 mark in conference action. The Raiders have won five of six to begin the season, including a 2-1 win over No. 7 East Stroudsburg last week. Shippensburg's lone loss was a narrow 1-0 defeat at the hands of No. 1 Millersville.

Rankings: The Rock opened the season with three consecutive victories to launch itself into the national rankings at No. 10 in the NFHCA Division II poll. Slippery Rock is currently ranked No. 10, but is in jeopardy of dropping out of the updated rankings that will be released Tuesday.

The Raiders of Shippensburg entered the season ranked No. 2 in the preseason poll after winning the national championship last fall and maintain the No. 2 ranking through three weeks of play.

All-Time Series: Shippensburg is 36-6-1 against The Rock all-time, the second highest winning percentage over SRU in program history. Slippery Rock fell to Shippensburg 4-2 last fall (
Box Score), extending The Rock's winless drought against the Raiders to 25 games. SRU last defeated Shippensburg in 1998, when The Rock emerged with a 3-1 home victory.

Scouting The Rock: Slippery Rock is outscoring opponents 11-10 through six games and is outshooting the opposition 77-74.
Kelsey Gustafson and
Kailee Krupski have each scored three goals to pace the offensive attack for The Rock, while
Anna Swearingen has added two goals and one assist.

Kaili Simmons each have one goal,

Megan McKay have two assists and
Courtney Bradshaw has one assist to round out The Rock's point scorers. Gustafson and
Baylee Childress lead the team with two defensive saves each.
Carlee DuMars has played every minute in goal and is 3-3 with a 1.56 goals against average, an .811 save percentage and one shutout. She has made 43 saves and allowed 10 goals in just under 450 minutes of action. DuMars ranks in the top-10 nationally in goals against average (7
th), saves per game (8
th) and save percentage (9
th).

Scouting the Raiders: Shippensburg has dominated the opposition, outscoring opponents 13-3 and outshooting the opposition 97-32 through five games. Tori Ricker has sizzled out of the gate, notching six goals in just five contests. Ricker's 1.2 goals per game average ranks ninth in the nation. Lizzie Frombach is second on the team with two goals, while Emily Barnard and Madison Scarr have each tallied a goal and an assist. Kendall Beck, Molly Stuart and Cassie Rawa have scored a goal apiece. Lucy Kauffman has tallied two assists and Ari Saytar recorded a helper to round out the point scorers for Shippensburg. Ally Mooney has started four games in goal and Is 3-1 with a .75 goals against average and an .812 save percentage. Mooney's goals against average is the third-best ratio in the country. Taylor Webster started one game between the pipes and is 1-0 with a shutout, despite having to make a save.

Head coaches: Julie Swiney, the 2012 PSAC-West Coach of the Year, enters her fifth season at the helm for Slippery Rock. She has led The Rock to four consecutive six-win seasons since 2010, including the fourth best record in school history with eight wins in 2012. After not reaching the PSAC playoffs since 1987, Swiney led The Rock to its first playoff berth in 2011 and again in 2012. Before coming to Slippery Rock, Swiney served as American International's head coach from 2006-2009. A 2003 graduate of The College of William and Mary, Swiney was a three-year starter in field hockey for the Tribe. She led the Tribe to a Top-20 national ranking in each of her three seasons and a pair of appearances in the NCAA Division I Tournament.

Bertie Landes, a member of the NFHCA Hall of Fame, enters her 16th season as Shippensburg University's head field hockey coach in 2014. Her career record, through 34 seasons, is 438-120-17. That makes for a career winning percentage of .777 – which is the 10th-best mark in NCAA history. Landes also ranks third all-time among NCAA Division II coaches and 11th among all divisions for career victories. Landes became a national champion in 2013, as Shippensburg University claimed a 2-1 victory over LIU Post to win the NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championship. Her efforts led to being named the NFHCA Division II National Coach of the Year. Prior to Shippensburg, Landes was the head coach at Philadelphia Biblical (Cairn) University for 19 years, where she compiled a 184-56-16 overall record. A former member of the United States National Field Hockey Squad, Landes was a defender for seven years on teams that toured Europe, South America, Rhodesia and South Africa before retiring from the squad in 1975. A standout player at Lock Haven, Landes was instrumental on a defense that allowed just 22 goals in four years, a span of 33 games, while posting 15 shutouts.
