MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University field hockey team hits the road Saturday for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference clash against No. 1 Millersville at 12 p.m. from Biemesderfer Stadium.

Records: Slippery Rock enters the match at 4-5 overall and 2-3 in PSAC action. The Rock won its first three games of the season to emerge in the top-10 rankings, but dropped its next four to fall out of the poll. SRU pulled off a dramatic 2-1 upset of No. 5 East Stroudsburg, before falling 1-0 to IUP in its most recent game.

Millersville enters the contest at 7-0 overall and 5-0 in league play. The Marauders entered the season at No. 1 in the NFHCA Preseason Poll and have not relinquished the title. Millersville is one of only three undefeated teams left in the country. The Marauders defeated Mansfield 6-0 in their most recent matchup.

All-Time Series: Millersville owns a 24-10-2 advantage over The Rock in the all-time series dating back to 1979. The Marauders have won seven straight in the series, with The Rock's last victory coming on a 3-1 decision at home in 2007. Millersville has shutout The Rock in each of the last six meetings, including a 2-0 win over SRU in the most recent matchup last fall (

Scouting The Rock: Slippery Rock opponents hold the edge 14-13 in goals scored, 104-95 in total shots and 86-68 in penalty corners over The Rock through nine games. SRU ranks 8

Kailee Krupski has recorded three goals to pace the offensive attack for The Rock.
Anna Swearingen adds two goals and an assist, while
Michelle Couch has tallied a goal and two assists. Megan Mckay has dished out a team-best three assists, while
Allison Shade rounds out the top point scorers with a goal and an assist.
Baylee Childress ranks 2
nd in the NCAA with six defensive saves and anchors a strong defensive unit along with Gustafson and

Carlee DuMars has played every minute in goal and is 4-5 with a 1.49 goals against average and 0.791 save percentage. She has made 53 saves and allowed 14 goals in just under 660 minutes of action. DuMars ranks 2
nd in the PSAC in saves and 4

Scouting the Marauders: Millersville has dominated opponents through seven games, posting advantages of 32-3 in goals scored, 151-49 in total shots and 77-47 in penalty corners. The Marauders lead the PSAC and rank 2
nd in the country with a 4.57 scoring average, while holding opponents to a 0.41 goals against average, which also ranks 1
st in the conference and 2
nd nationally. Millersville leads the NCAA in scoring margin at +3.96.

Katelyn Zapp leads the team with eight goals and an assist. Zapp ranks 5
th in the NCAA in goals per game (1.33) and has scored in every game this fall. Champayne Hess adds four goals and three assists, followed by Rachel Dickinson with three goals and four assists. Overall, Millersville has seven players who have registered multiple goals. Kayla Bixler anchors the defensive line with two defensive saves.

Head Coaches: Julie Swiney, the 2012 PSAC-West Coach of the Year, enters her fifth season at the helm for Slippery Rock. She has led The Rock to four consecutive six-win seasons since 2010, including the fourth best record in school history with eight wins in 2012. After not reaching the PSAC playoffs since 1987, Swiney led The Rock to its first playoff berth in 2011 and again in 2012. Before coming to Slippery Rock, Swiney served as American International's head coach from 2006-2009. A 2003 graduate of The College of William and Mary, Swiney was a three-year starter in field hockey for the Tribe. She led the Tribe to a Top-20 national ranking in each of her three seasons and a pair of appearances in the NCAA Division I Tournament.

Shelly Behrens has resurrected Millersville field hockey into a national contender in just six years. Her efforts showed major dividends in 2012 and 2013 as the Marauders made back-to-back appearances in the PSAC Championship, and in 2013, they won the league crown and made their first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division II Tournament. Prior to Millersville, Behrens was the head coach at Oneonta State, Virginia Commonwealth and Richmond. Behrens also spent time as an assistant coach at Penn State, James Madison and Northeastern. Additionally, she has been heavily involved in USA Field Hockey at the national level and won the NCAA national championship as a goalkeeper for Old Dominion in 1984.

Next Up: Slippery Rock returns home to host Mansfield University Saturday, Oct. 11. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. from Mihalik-Thompson Stadium and will celebrate the 125
th anniversary of SRU.
