SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University field hockey team (6-8, 2-4) seeks revenge for a 3-2 loss earlier this fall against Indiana (Pa.) (4-9, 2-4) Friday in PSAC play at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium. The game is scheduled for 5 p.m.

Records: Slippery Rock enters the match with a 6-8 overall record and 2-4 mark in the PSAC. The Rock dropped a 3-1 decision at No. 6 Bloomsburg Tuesday, snapping SRU's three game win-streak.
Indiana enters the match at 4-9 overall and 2-4 in the PSAC. The Crimson Hawks ended a three game winless streak with a 3-2 overtime victory Tuesday against Mansfield.
Scouting The Rock: Slippery Rock is being edged 34-32 in goals and 140-127 in penalty corners. The Rock holds advantages of 205-175 in total shots and 157-128 in shots on goal against opponents.
Lindsay Brown leads The Rock in scoring with 12 goals and five assists, followed by
Megan McKay and
Kelsey Gustafson with four goals apiece.
Allison Shade has recorded three goals and two assists, while
Courtney Bradshaw,
Renee Rosenblum and
Gina Smarrelli have each scored twice.
Baylee Childress and Gustafson each have four defensive saves and
Lauren Shideler has two defensive saves to lead The Rock's defense.
Meghan McKinney and
Lauren Hart have each recorded a defensive save as well.
Scouting the Crimson Hawks: Despite their record, IUP holds advantages of 44-37 in goals, 207-137 in total shots and 141-88 in shots on goal. The disparities are primarily attributed to an 18-1 win in their season opener over Newburry. Jessica Kida leads the Crimson Hawks with seven goals, while Kate Bruce and Casey McGowan have each recorded six goals. Jillian Duld has four goals, followed by Chelsea Wannamaker, Dani Edwards, Paige Mosner and Sarah Zielinski with three goals. Wannamaker also has a team-high seven assists.
Goalkeepers: Carlee DuMars has started the last five games for The Rock and owns a 4-4 record on the season. DuMars holds a 2.24 goals against average and .708 save percentage.
Courtney Lee has started eight games for Slippery Rock and owns a 2-4 record, 2.69 goals against average and .700 save percentage.
Darian Shuker has started every game in goal for IUP and owns a 4-9 record on the season. Shuker holds a 2.85 goals against average and .581 save percentage.
Coaches: Julie Swiney, the reigning PSAC-West Coach of the Year, enters her fourth season at the helm for Slippery Rock. She led The Rock to back-to-back six-win seasons in 2010 and 2011, before matching the fourth best record in school history with eight wins in 2012. After not reaching the PSAC playoffs since 1987, Swiney led The Rock to its first playoff berth in 2011 and again in 2012. Before coming to Slippery Rock, Swiney served as American International's head coach from 2006-2009. A 2003 graduate of The College of William and Mary, Swiney was a three-year starter in field hockey for the Tribe. She led the Tribe to a Top-20 national ranking in each of her three seasons and a pair of appearances in the NCAA Division I Tournament.
Gary Agard is in his fourth season as the head coach of the IUP field hockey team. In 2012, he led the Hawks to a 14-6 record and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Prior to IUP, Agard spent eight seasons as an assistant coach for perennial national power Bloomsburg. During his tenure, the Huskies posted a 175-16 record and Division II National Championships each year except for 2005 when Bloomsburg finished as the runners-up.
Series: IUP leads the all-time series 34-16-1 over Slippery Rock. The Crimson Hawks won all three meetings between the teams last year and knocked The Rock out of the PSAC Tournament. IUP also defeated Slippery Rock 3-2 earlier this fall. The last four meetings have all been decided by one goal.
Next Up: Slippery Rock returns to PSAC action Wednesday, Oct. 23 against Shippensburg, the nation's top ranked team, at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
