INDIANA, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University field hockey team (3-5) hits the road to take on Indiana (Pa.) (2-6) Wednesday in George P. Miller Stadium at 7 p.m.
Although both teams are members of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, this match will not count towards the PSAC standings for either team.

Records: Slippery Rock enters the contest at 3-5. The Rock was outlasted 3-5 at No. 9 Kutztown Friday and upset 3-4 in overtime at East Stroudsburg Saturday.
IUP enters the contest at 2-6. The Crimson Hawks ended a five-game losing streak with a 4-2 win over No. 9 Kutztown last Saturday.
Scouting The Rock: Slippery Rock is being edged 22-20 in goals and 16-10 in assists by the opposition. The Rock holds advantages of 140-100 in total shots, 104-78 in shots on goal and 85-78 in penalty corners against opponents.
Lindsay Brown leads The Rock in scoring with seven goals and five assists.
Megan McKay has scored three goals,
Allison Shade has recorded two goals and two assists and
Courtney Bradshaw and
Gina Smarrelli have each scored twice to round out the top point leaders for Slippery Rock.
Baylee Childress has three defensive saves and
Lauren Shideler has two defensive saves to lead The Rock's defense.
Kelsey Gustafson,
Meghan McKinney and
Lauren Hart have each recorded a defensive save as well.
The Rock has lost three straight for the first time this year. During the losing streak, Slippery Rock is giving up 4.33 goals per game after allowing an average of 1.8 goals against during its previous five games.
Scouting the Crimson Hawks: Despite their record, IUP holds advantages of 31-20 in goals, 121-95 in total shots and 87-58 in shots on goal. The disparities are primarily attributed to an 18-1 win in their season opener over Newburry. Jessica Kida leads the Crimson Hawks with six goals, while Kate Bruce, Paige Mosner, Jillian Duld, Chelsea Wannamaker and Sarah Zielinski each have three goals. Dani Edwards leads the team with three assists.
The Crimson Hawks snapped a five-game skid with a 4-2 win over No. 9 Kutztown last Saturday. Five of IUP's six losses have been decided by one goal, including losses to No. 8 Limestone, No. 1 Shippensburg and two-losses to No. 3 West Chester.
Goalkeepers: Courtney Lee has started seven of eight games for The Rock and owns a 2-3 record, 2.62 goals against average and .727 save percentage.
Carlee DuMars has appeared in seven games with one start and owns a 1-2 record, 2.86 goals against average and .615 save percentage.
Darlan Shuker has started every game for IUP and owns a 2-6 record, 2.51 goals against average and .667 save percentage.
Coaches: Julie Swiney, the reigning PSAC-West Coach of the Year, enters her fourth season at the helm for Slippery Rock. She led The Rock to back-to-back six-win seasons in 2010 and 2011, before matching the fourth best record in school history with eight wins in 2012. After not reaching the PSAC playoffs since 1987, Swiney led The Rock to its first playoff berth in 2011 and again in 2012. Before coming to Slippery Rock, Swiney served as American International's head coach from 2006-2009. A 2003 graduate of The College of William and Mary, Swiney was a three-year starter in field hockey for the Tribe. She led the Tribe to a Top-20 national ranking in each of her three seasons and a pair of appearances in the NCAA Division I Tournament.
Gary Agard is in his fourth season as the head coach of the IUP field hockey team. In 2012, he led the Hawks to a 14-6 record and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Prior to IUP, Agard spent eight seasons as an assistant coach for perennial national power Bloomsburg. During his tenure, the Huskies posted a 175-16 record and Division II National Championships each year except for 2005 when Bloomsburg finished as the runners-up.
Series: IUP leads the all-time series 33-16-1 over Slippery Rock. The Crimson Hawks won all three meetings between the teams last year and knocked The Rock out of the PSAC Tournament. All three meetings were decided by one goal.
Next Up: Slippery Rock returns to action Saturday, Oct. 5 for a home match against Millersville. Game time is set for 11:30 a.m. at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.
