Rock travels to No. 4 West Chester Tuesday

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team will travel to No. 4 West Chester Tuesday for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference match at 3:30 p.m.

Scouting The Rock: Slippery Rock enters the game with a 7-3-1 overall record and a 4-3-1 PSAC mark. The Rock is coming off dominant 5-1 win over Bloomsburg and a 1-1 double overtime tie at East Stroudsburg.

Slippery Rock is led by Lucy Hannon with seven goals and five assists, while Shelby Ward has four goals and one assist and Stephanie Buckenheimer has two goals and two assists. Kara Mullins has two goals and one assist, Lauren Impey has one goal and three assists and Caitlin Binder had four assists to cap the leading scorers. SRU is outscoring opponents 23-11 and outshooting the opposition by a 154-100 margin. The Rock has allowed just 44 shots on goal.

Dana O'Neill has played every minute in goal for SRU and is 7-3-1 with five shutouts. She has allowed 11 goals for a 0.96 goals against average and has made 32 saves for a .744 save percentage.

Scouting the Golden Rams: West Chester was ranked No. 4 in the nation last week and brings an undefeated record of 10-0-1 overall and 7-0-1 in PSAC games into Tuesday's game. The Golden Rams are coming off their only tie of the year, 0-0 against Kutztown.

West Chester is outscoring opponents 33-4 and outshooting the opposition 220-79 on the year. Seven players have scored at least two goals, led by Melissa McKeary with six goals and three assists. Ashley Saylor has five goals and four assists and Marie D'Angelo has five goals and three assists. Carly Yost has four goals, Jen Hutchinson and Cora Littlejohns each have three goals and Brianna Hires has two goals to cap the leading scorers.

Shannon Fedyk has played every minute in goal for West Chester and is 10-0-1 with seven shutouts. She has allowed just four goals for a 0.36 goals against average and has made 45 saves for a .918 save percentage.

Head Coaches: Noreen Herlihy is in her 18th season at the helm of the Slippery Rock program. She has led the team to 16 consecutive winning seasons with 10 or more wins and owns a career record of 218-100-25. The 16 consecutive winning seasons rank eighth all-time in Division II history. Herlihy is a 1992 graduate of Mercyhurst College with a bachelor's degree in sports medicine. She also owns a master's degree in sports administration from Slippery Rock.

Betty Ann Kempf Townsley is in her sixth season as the head coach at West Chester, where she has led the team to a record of 90-11-15 during her tenure to become the school's all-time winningest coach. She has led the team to the Atlantic Region title twice and has taken the team to the NCAA Round of 16 twice as well.

Series: West Chester owns a 13-5-2 advantage in the series, but Slippery Rock claims the last win in the series, eliminating the Golden Rams from the PSAC playoffs last season.

Last Time: (Box Score): Kara Mullins scored the lone goal of the game to lead Slippery Rock to a 1-0 win over West Chester in the opening round of the PSAC playoffs last season, Nov. 1 at Slippery Rock.

The Golden Rams finished with advantages of 11-9 in total shots and 4-3 in shots on goal, while Slippery Rock posted a 7-6 edge in corner kicks.

Mullins scored off an assist from Hannon in the 69th minute for the game-winner. Lisa Rodgers made four saves to earn the shutout for SRU, its school record 11th straight shutout. Shannon Fedyk made two saves in the loss for WCU.
