Scouting The Rock: Slippery Rock enters the game with a 5-2-5 overall record and a 1-2-2 mark in PSAC games. The Rock is coming off its fourth and fifth double overtime ties of the season, 0-0 against Bloomsburg last Wednesday and 0-0 at East Stroudsburg last Saturday.
Slippery Rock is outscoring opponents 24-13 and outshooting the opposition 206-149. The Rock scored just 24 goals in 17 games last year.
Stephen Donnelly and
Michael Ramirez lead the team with four goals and one assist each, while
Chris Davis has three goals and one assist.
Mike Roopchandsingh has two goals and three assists,
Brandon Chiu and
Joshua Gray each have two goals and two assists and
Ryan Lutke and
Max Aronica each have two goals to cap the leading scorers.
Clayton Master has started 11 games in goal for SRU and is 4-2-5 with four shutouts. He has allowed 11 goals for a goals against average of 0.92 and has made 44 saves for a .800 save percentage.
Joe Agerskow has started one game and is 1-0, has allowed two goals for a 1.73 goals against average and has made five saves for a .714 save percent.
Scouting the Golden Rams: West Chester enters Tuesday's game with a 3-6-2 overall record and a 2-1-1 mark in PSAC games. The Golden Rams are coming off a 3-2 double overtime loss to Nyack Sunday.
West Chester is being outscored 14-12 and outshot 149-119 on the year. The Rams are led by Kevin McCann with three goals, while Tommy Ryan is the only other player with more than one goal at two. Brett Snyder has one goal and two assists and Christian Benner and Dan Venuto each have one goal and one assist to cap the leading scorers.
Garrett Bleiler has played the majority of minutes in goal for West Chester and is 3-4-2 with one shutout. He has allowed 11 goals for a 1.21 goals against average and has made 44 saves for a .800 save percentage.
Head Coaches: Michael Bonelli is in his third season at the helm of the Slippery Rock program. Bonelli has posted a record of 23-17-8 in his three seasons, including an 11-7-1 mark and a berth in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference playoffs in 2010. Prior to his time at SRU, Bonelli spent five seasons as an assistant coach at the Division I level, with stints at Northwestern and Lafayette. He received a bachelor's degree in physical education from SUNY Cortland in 2004.
Kendal Walkes is in his 23rd season as the head coach at West Chester, where he has accumulated more than 200 career wins. Walkes hails from Trinidad and Tobago, where he was a member of the international team in the 1970s and 1980s, including playing appearances in the 1976 Olympics and the 1982 World Cup qualifying rounds. He received his undergraduate degree from Davis & Elkins in 1984.
