SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The eighth-ranked Slippery Rock University field hockey team looks to get back on track Wednesday when it hosts Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division rival and third-ranked Indiana (Pa.) at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium. Game time is set for 4 p.m.

Rankings: Slippery Rock moved up to No. 8 in this week's NFHCA Division II rankings, the highest ranking in school history. Indiana moved up to No. 3 in the rankings, its highest ranking of the year.
Scouting The Rock: Slippery Rock enters Wednesday's matchup 6-5 overall with a 3-1 mark in the PSAC-West. It rattled off three consecutive PSAC-West wins over Mercyhurst, Seton Hill and Mansfield prior to losing its last two at home in heartbreaking fashion to No. 1 West Chester and Kutztown.
Allison Shade has scored four goals in the last four games and has a total of six on the year to lead The Rock.
Kaitlin McGinnis leads SRU with 20 shots on goal and is second on the team with five goals while
Ally Banks has recorded thee goals and four assists.
Lindsay Brown,
Kelsey Gustafson,
Gabrielle Malishchak,
Courtney Bradshaw and
Rebecca Williams all have recorded two goals to round out Slippery Rock's multiple goal scorers.
Courtney Lee has started every game in goal for The Rock and is 6-5 with one shutout on the year. She has allowed 15 goals for a 1.39 goals against average and has made 68 saves for a .819 save percentage.
Scouting the Crimson Hawks: Indiana owns a 10-2 overall record and is a perfect 5-0 in the PSAC-West this season. The Crimson Hawks are outscoring opponents 40-21 on the year and hold a 189-127 edge in shot attempts as well. IUP is riding a six game winning streak entering Wednesday's matchup.
Nicole Bruce leads IUP in shots (50), shots on goal (41), goals (11) and assists (9). Anouk Sickman is second on the team with six goals and four assists. Brielle Mackey, Paige Mosner and Ashley Mosner each have tallied four goals and round out the top goal scorers for the Crimson Hawks.
Sarah Lemieux and Brittany Varacallo each have seen time in goal this year with Lemieux seeing the most with nine starts. She has allowed 13 goals for a 2.30 goals against average and has made 47 saves for a .783 save percentage for a 6-2 record. Varacallo has appeared in eight games making three starts and is 4-0. She has allowed eight goals for a 2.06 goals against average and has 12 saves for a .600 save percentage.
Series: Indiana holds a 30-16-1 advantage in the all-time series.
Last Meeting: Last year, the two teams played twice in three days. In the last game of the regular season on Oct. 22, Slippery Rock upset the then No. 6 Crimson Hawks, 2-1 in overtime and
Gabrielle Malishchak scored the game-winner to clinch SRU's first PSAC tournament appearance since 1987.
Three days later, IUP avenged its loss, winning 2-0 at home as they advanced past Slippery Rock in the PSAC tournament.
Head Coaches: Julie Swiney is in her third season at the helm for SRU. She has led The Rock to back-to-back six-win seasons and their first PSAC playoff appearance since 1987 a year ago. Swiney joined Slippery Rock after serving four years as American International's head coach from 2006-2009. A 2003 graduate of The College of William and Mary, Swiney was a three-year starter for the Tribe.
Gary Agard is in this third season at IUP. Last year, He guided the Crimson Hawks to a 12-7 record and a berth in the PSAC semifinals for the first time since 2008. Prior to Indiana, Agard spent eight seasons as an assistant coach for Bloomsburg and helped the Huskies to a 175-16 record during that time. The Trinidad and Tobago native graduated from Brooklyn College in 1996.
