Women's 800m Results
AKRON, Pa. – Slippery Rock University middle distance standouts
Kaela Snyder and
Caitlin Hancox put forth personal best efforts for the women's indoor track and field team at the Akron Invite Saturday.
Snyder and Hancox both bettered their previous best indoor performances in the 800-meter run, with Snyder reaching an NCAA provisional qualifying mark and Hancox just missing the mark.
Snyder finished the race in 2:15.34, narrowly missing the SRU school record after a conversion due to an oversized track. Her time with the conversion was 2:15.94, just off the record of 2:15.60 set in 1983. She placed sixth in the event.
Hancox placed ninth with a personal indoor best of 2:16.02, just missing the provisional qualifying mark of 2:15.90.
Snyder's mark ranks second in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and 13th nationally, while Hancox's mark ranks third in the conference.
The middle distance duo were the only Rock athletes to compete Saturday, with the remainder of the team competing Friday evening at Baldwin-Wallace. Slippery Rock is back in action next Saturday at the Kent State Tune-Up.
