AKRON, Ohio – Baylee Blauser won the long jump to lead the Slippery Rock University track & field team to three NCAA provisional marks at the Haynes Lancaster Open Friday night at the University of Akron.

The Rock sent just four total athletes to Akron with Blauser being joined by pole vaulters
Allie Taylor,
Drew Layton and
Logan Gossard.

Blauser took the top spot in the long jump with a season-best and NCAA provisional mark of 5.74 meters. She won in a field that included four Division I jumpers and only one other jumper from a Division II school.

Blauser also took second in the triple jump Friday night with a leap of 11.56 meters in a field that included four other jumpers, all from Division I Akron.

Taylor placed 11th in the pole vault with a PSAC automatic qualifying mark of 3.50 meters to round out the women's performances.

Layton and Gossard both cleared matching NCAA provisional heights of 4.95 meters with Layton finishing fifth and Gossard placing eighth. The 4.95-meter clearance marked a new career-best for Gossard, who entered the meet with a previous best of 4.81 meters.

The Rock duo of Layton and Gossard now rank 1-2 in the PSAC this winter in the pole vault.

Friday night's meet marked the final competition of the calendar year for The Rock track & field program. The team will break for the semester and return to action Jan. 16 at Youngstown State University.
