GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's soccer team scored three second half goals to pull away for a 3-1 win on the road at Seton Hill Wednesday in a non-conference match.
With the win Slippery Rock improves to 4-5 overall, while Seton Hill drops to 3-8.
The Rock finished the game with advantages in every statistical category, posting a 14-8 edge in total shots, an 8-5 margin in shots on goal and a 2-1 advantage in corner kicks.
All three of Slippery Rock's goals came from different players, as
Kenneth Fultz,
Stephen Donnelly and
Oladele Olaewe all tallied scores.
Clayton Master earned the win in goal for SRU, allowing one goal and recording four saves. His counterpart, Jon DeLuca, took the loss after allowing three goals and recording five saves.
The game was fairly even through the opening period with neither team finding the back of the net. Slippery Rock managed a 7-3 edge in total shots and Seton Hill posted a 3-2 edge in shots on goal.
Fultz scored the game's first goal at the 55:13 mark of the second half to put The Rock up 1-0.
Just over a minute later, the Griffins tied the game at 1-1 when Mike Belsito scored off an assist from Bovey Masioli at the 56:42 mark.
Donnelly put Slippery Rock on top for good in the 65th minute when he tallied his first career goal.
Olaewe added an insurance goal, also the first of his career, at the 82:18 mark when he converted an assist from
Cody Clark.
Wednesday's win snapped a three-game losing streak for Slippery Rock, which will stay on the road when it travels to Urbana Saturday for another non-conference game. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
