ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Terrece Draper won the triple jump and
Kris Stalma won the 55-meter hurdles to lead the Slippery Rock men's track and field team at the Jim Wuske Invitational Saturday at Mount Union College.
Draper landed his best jump of the season at 14.30 meters to win his third invitational of the year. That mark is just 0.10 meters off the NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 14.40 meters.
Stalma posted a winning time of 7.78 seconds in the 55-meter hurdles, a time that is just .06 seconds off the NCAA provisional mark of 7.72 seconds.
Draper was joined in the triple jump by
Shawn Vanderbrook, who placed fifth with a leap of 13.25 meters.
Stalma was joined in the hurdles by
Dan Hedglin, who placed fourth in 8.30 seconds.
Matt Antis placed second in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.20 meters. He was joined in eighth-place by
Tom McKinley at 4.05 meters.
Bill Nguyen placed third in the long jump with a leap of 6.89 meters and was joined by Draper in fifth at 6.67 meters and Vanderbrook in sixth at 6.53 meters.
Brady Wert capped the jumpers' top performances with a third-place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.82 meters.
Mason McLaughlin placed eighth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.62 seconds to round out the top performances at the meet.
The Rock will compete in two meets next weekend, hosting the SRU Open Friday evening at Morrow Field House and traveling to Akron on Saturday.
