Throwers compete at Findlay

FINDLAY, Ohio
-- Rachel Weber and Chris Warning led the Slippery Rock throwers at the Findlay Open Friday night. 

The Rock throwers were representing SRU's track and field teams in the first of three meets this weekend. Select members of the team will compete at Findlay tomorrow in the Division II Challenge, while the majority of the team will compete at Mount Union tomorrow. 

Weber led the women's throwers Friday night with a pair of top-10 finishes. She placed sixth in the shot put with a toss of 12.30 meters and placed seventh in the weight throw with a throw of 14.82 meters. 

Weber was joined in the weight throw by Jessica Koerner, who placed eighth with a throw of 14.58 meters. 

Sandy Kakraba and Jade Hambrick placed 11th and 13th in the shot put, with Kakraba landing a throw of 11.30 meters and Hambrick reaching 11.23 meters. 

For the third time this season, Warning led the men's throwers with a solid performance in the weight throw. He placed seventh in the event Friday with a toss of 16.37 meters.

Warning was joined by Joel Peters, who placed eighth with a throw of 16.25 meters.
