LEWISBURG, Pa. –
Terrece Draper and
Chris Warning each picked up wins to lead the Slippery Rock University men's indoor track and field team at the Bucknell Bison Open, hosted Friday and Saturday at Bucknell University.
Draper picked up his second invitational win of the season in the triple jump, landing a jump of 13.63 meters. He was joined in the event by
Shawn Vanderbrook, who placed fifth with a leap of 13.26 meters.
Warning continued his streak of impressive performances in the weight throw, winning the event with a toss of 17.51 meters. He was joined by
Joel Peters in fifth-place with a throw of 16.42 meters.
Brady Wert picked up a second-place finish in the heptathlon, posting a score of 4,663 points in the seven-event competition.
The Rock got strong showings in the 800-meter run from
Jason Jamieson and
Kevin Jewel. Jamieson placed fourth in 1:57.83 and was followed in fifth by Jewel at 1:57.84.
Kris Stalma finished fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.62 seconds. He was joined by
Dan Hedglin, who finished eighth with a time of 8.86 seconds.
Pat Reagan led the distance runners with a fifth-place showing in the 5,000-meter run, posting a time of 15:15.74 in his first collegiate race in over a year.
The Rock's 4x400-meter relay team of
Mason McLaughlin,
Ethan Geisler, Jamieson and
Phil Rector rounded out the top performances with a sixth-place finish, posting a time of 3:27.44.
The Rock is back in action next Friday and Saturday at the Division II Challenge Meet in Findlay, Ohio.
