Rock swimmers split at Pittsburgh Invitational

SRU defeats California (Pa.) and Carnegie Mellon, falls to Clarion and Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Slippery Rock women's swimming team recorded two wins and two losses at the University of Pittsburgh Invitational on Saturday.

The Rock women were victorious against California (Pa.), 144-48, and Carnegie Mellon, 113-93, while dropping decisions against Clarion (233-41) and Pittsburgh (245-35).
 
The meet opened with the 200-yard medley relay team of Amanda Lancki, Amanda Giuseppetti, Jessie Kieler and Raquel Woerner placing sixth in a time of 2:02.20.
 
Kaitlin Kaulius picked up The Rock's highest-placing in the 1,000-yard freestyle, finishing fifth in a time of 12:14.15.
 
Amanda Lancki put forth a solid effort in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing sixth out of 14 swimmers in a time of 1:02.47, and Lauren Hervatin finished seventh in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:48.88.
 
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Hervatin, Lindsay Moyer, Katie Pietkiewicz and Woerner closed out the meet with a sixth-place finish in a time of 4:03.52.
 
With the split, the team moves to 4-6 overall in dual meets this season.
 
The Rock will travel to Mechanicsburg, Pa., for the PSAC Championships from Feb. 19-22 to close out the season.
