Rock finishes in fifth place at Longnecker Invitational

Hosting Grove City won the team title in the two-day competition held Friday and Saturday

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Rock finished in fifth place in the two-day Longnecker Invitational hosted by Grove City College.

Freshman Amanda Lancki (pictured above) recorded the highest finish by a Rock swimmer when she placed third in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.60.

Sophomore Maureen Moran finished fourth in the one-meter diving event with 176.05 points, senior Lauren Hervatin placed fifth in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:38.08 and Kaitlin Kaulius finished eighth in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 20:14.70 to round out The Rock's top-eight finishes in individual events..

The top finish by a Rock relay team was a seventh-place effort in the 800 freestyle event. The team of Hervatin, Woerner, Grusek and senior Katie Pietkiewicz recorded a time of 8:52.94.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Lancki, Hervatin, freshman Merideth Grusek and senior Raquel Woerner finished eighth with a time of 1:47.85.

The 200 medley relay team also placed eighth. The quartet of Lancki, Grusek, Woerner and sophomore Lindsay Moyer had a time of 2:02.41.

Hosting Grove City won the team title and was followed in the team standings by Washington & Jefferson, Misercordia, Hiram, The Rock, Frostburg State, Lock Haven and Findlay.

The Rock's next competition is Jan. 23-24 when it will participate in the Vulcan Dual Meet Challenge Invitational at California U. of Pa.
