Moran places fourth in 1-meter diving at Longnecker Invitational

Maureen Moran's finish was the highest recorded by a Rock swimmer in the first day of competition of the event hosted by Grove City College

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Maureen Moran finished fourth in the 1-meter diving event Friday to lead The Rock effort in Day 1 competition of the Longnecker Invitational hosted by Grove City College.

Moran (pictured above) accumulated 176.05 points in her specialty event.

Lauren Hervatin finished fifth in the 500 freestyle with a 5:38.08 to account for the only other top-eight individual finish by a Rock swimmer.

Hervatin also swam a leg of 200-yard freestyle relay, which placed eighth with a time of 1:47.85. Joining her on the relay were classmate Raquel Woerner and freshmen Merideth Grusek and Amanda Lancki.

As a team, The Rock was in fifth place at the end of the first day of competition. SRU had 86 points.

Washington & Jefferson led the team standings with 371 points and was followed by Grove City with 370.5, Misericordia University with 187.5, Hiram with 152, The Rock, Frostburg State with 35, Lock Haven with 17 and Findlay with 14.
