SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's and women's cross country teams will open the 2026 season Saturday at the Doug Watts Invitational hosted by Edinboro.

SEASON OPENER
This weekend will mark the official season opener for SRU. The Rock took part in a fun-run last weekend at the annual SRU Alumni Race but will put the spikes on and race for real for the first time this season at Edinboro. Both the men and women will run slightly shorter distances than the normal collegiate lengths with the men racing 6,000 meters and the women running 5,000 meters.
 
SRU MEN'S ENTRIES
Slippery Rock has entered 19 men to compete Saturday with All-PSAC returner Eli Schreiber set to lead the squad. The Rock will see a mix of returners and newcomers competing this weekend, including the collegiate debuts for multiple true freshmen.
 
The Rock's full entry list for Saturday includes Easton Adamczyk, Colton Adolph, Dylan Barca, Gavin Boer, Lincoln Bouman, Dom Bumblis, Ryan Czechowski, Andreas Dunkel, Ty Fiscus, Michael Gauntner, Blake Glass, Brandon Henry, Brady Hoffman, Scotty McConnell, Logan McEvoy, Brennan Patterson, Nate Pitzer, Dylan Ribelin and Schreiber.
 
SRU WOMEN'S ENTRIES
The Rock will enter 22 women this weekend at Edinboro with a mix of returners and newcomers filling out the lineup. Returning All-PSAC runners Carissa Flynn and Hannah Burgoon are back to lead the squad, which will be looking for a new frontrunner after the graduations of Ruthie Hughes and Jennifer Cichra.  
 
The full lineup for Saturday includes: Burgoon, Kayla Flanigan, Flynn, Emily Grosch, Kayla Hanna, Birtukan Hartman, Sydney Heltzell, Lizzie Higgins, Adi Jackson, Mia Medved, Lila Miller, Brynleigh Moody, Sloane Potter,  Bella Tatar, Rylie Teapole, Marabelle Thornberry, Addison Weber, Caroline Wilson, Kaydence Wisner, Annie Woller, Claire Wonders and Lexie Wyant.
