SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's lacrosse team was ranked No. 7 by USA Lacrosse Magazine and No. 8 by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association when both organizations announced their final NCAA Division II national rankings this week.

The Rock were ranked inside the top 10 all season and climbed to program records of No. 3 in the USA Lacrosse Magazine poll and No. 4 in the IWLCA poll before slipping a few places to No. 7 and No. 8 in the final polls.

Slippery Rock put together an historic season in 2026 that included a perfect 17-0 regular season, a 20-game winning streak and the second-best overall record among all schools in the country. Only national champion Florida Southern at 21-1 managed a better overall record than Slippery Rock's 20-1 overall mark. The Rock were one of just four programs in the nation to reach 20 wins this spring.

The 20-win season included a second straight undefeated Western Division title in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and the first overall PSAC title in program history. It also marked the third straight season that the program has set a new record for single-season wins after posting 15 wins in 2024, 18 wins in 2025 and now 20 wins in 2026.

Slippery Rock finished the year with the No. 1 ranked scoring defense in the country, allowing just 5.57 goals per game. The Rock also ranked No. 2 nationally in caused turnovers per game (15.14), No. 3 in shots per game (36.10), No. 4 in scoring margin (+10.29 goals per game), No. 7 in draw controls percentage (65.4%), No. 7 in ground balls per game (22.52) and No. 12 in scoring offense (15.86).

The Rock had multiple players rank in the top 10 nationally with goalie Lily Ventresca leading the way by winning the NCAA statistical title for goals against average at just 5.79 goals per game. She also ranked 13th nationally in save percentage at .479. Shannon Von Kaenel ranked fourth nationally in draw controls per game (9.19), Isabella Buono was fifth in free position percentage (69.6%), Paige Jenkins ranked eighth in caused turnovers per game (3.05) and 13th in ground balls per game (3.48) and Reagan Richeson ranked 12th in goals with 70.

Slippery Rock had eight players earn All-PSAC honors, headlined by Jenkins being named the Western Division Defensive Athlete of the Year for the second year in a row and freshman defender Aleigha Dubroc being named the Western Division Freshman of the Year. Head coach Taryn Burkholder was also named the Western Division Coach of the Year for the third year in a row.

The Rock had six players named to USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America honors and three players named to IWLCA All-America honors, headlined by Jenkins being named to the first team on both squads. Grace Rotter and Lily Ventresca were also named to both teams, while Isabella Buono, Shannon Von Kaenel and Reagan Richeson were all selected by USA Lacrosse Magazine.
