LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Slippery Rock University men's shot putter
Seaton Wozniak was named Male Field Athlete of the Week when the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its weekly track & field awards Monday.
Â
Wozniak, a senior from Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, picks up his first PSAC weekly award of the season for his performance at the YSU Last Chance Meet Friday night at Youngstown State University.
Â
The award comes after Wozniak broke the SRU record in the shot put for the second time this winter, topping his own record of 17.97 meters. He won the event Friday at YSU with an NCAA provisional qualifying throw of 18.17 meters (59' 7.5"), becoming the first SRU athlete to ever top 18 meters indoors.
Â
Wozniak's effort moved him up two places on the national leaderboard and he now sits at No. 8 among all throwers in Division II this winter.
Â
Slippery Rock will compete one more time before the PSAC Championships when the team travels to the Ashland University in Ohio this Saturday.
