SERIES HISTORY
Slippery Rock and Pitt-Johnstown first faced off in 1978, resulting in a 72-67 Rock victory. SRU claimed three of the first five matchups against the Mountain Cats. Over the next 54 matchups, The Rock won 12 games over Pitt-Johnstown. Overall, Slippery Rock owns a 15-44 record against UPJ.
The two teams split their season series during the 2024-25 campaign, with each team claiming a home victory. SRU took down UPJ during their first meeting of the season, 71-58, before the Mountain Cats responded with a, 69-67, double overtime victory .

LAST TIME OUT
Slippery Rock's fourth quarter comeback attempt fell short as Clarion took home a 72-67 victory Wednesday night at Tippin Gymnasium.
Kayley Joseph-Bernard led Slippery Rock with a career-high 19 points to go along with eight rebounds, four assists, four steals and two blocks.
Alyssa Gillin, followed Joseph-Bernard with 16 points, two rebounds and one assist. Joseph-Bernard and Gillin combined to shoot 15-of-29 from the floor overall.
Iyanna Wade and
Karianna Woods both reached double-digits in scoring with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Wade facilitated SRU's offense with a game-high six assists, as well as five rebounds and two steals. Woods added one rebound, assist and steal to the scoresheet as well.
Sophia Hook rounded out The Rock's starters with six points and a game-high nine rebounds. Hook also contributed one assist and one steal.
Off the bench,
Sarah Chawki played a career-high eight minutes and put in two points, two steals and one rebound.
Mairan Haggerty rounded out SRU's scorers with two points of her own.
Slippery Rock ended the game shooting 38.6 percent (27-of-70) from the field overall, 26.3 percent (5-for-19) from the 3-point line and 61.5 percent (8-of-13) from the charity stripe.
Coming into the game, the Golden Eagles forced the 13
th most turnovers in the nation with 24.5 forced tpg, but SRU took care of the ball and only committed 13 turnovers.
Defensively, SRU limited Clarion to 42.6 percent (26-of-61) shooting from the floor overall, 26.7 percent (4-for-15) from beyond the arc and 76.2 percent (16-of-21) from the foul line.
HIGH SCORING FOURTH QUARTER
Slippery Rock scored 20 points in the fourth quater against Clarion, its third highest final frame total of the season. The Rock scored 30 and 22 points, respectively, against Shepherd University and Shippensburg University in the final frame. The last time SRU scored 20 points in the fourth quarter against a PSAC West opponent was Feb. 1, 2025, when it put in 28 points in the fourth quarter against Seton Hill University.

MOVING THE ROCK
Ball movement has been key for SRU putting up 65.4 points per game as it has assisted on 57.5 percent (184-of-320) of it's made field goals.
Wade and Joseph-Bernard lead the way for Rock playmakers as the guard ranks third (4.5 apg) and the forward ranks fourth (3.9 apg) in the PSAC in assists per game.
Slippery Rock is the only team in the PSAC with two of the top five players in assists per game.
LEADING THE PACK
Wade is currently averaging 13.7 points per game and 4.5 assists per game this season. The guard sits 26
th in the country in assists per game and paces all freshman in Division II. The rookie also leads all freshmen in the conference in scoring and assists.
PROTECTING THE PAINT
Joseph-Bernard has been one of the fiercest shot-blockers in the country so far this season. The forward is currently 26
th in Division II in total blocks with 25 and 31
st with 1.92 blocks per game. While near the top of the country in blocks and blocks per game, Joseph-Bernard's total rejection numbers stands in second in the PSAC. The senior forward only trails Lock Haven University's Alana Robinson (2.4 bpg).
Along with Joseph-Bernard, Gillin has also been a force in the paint. Gillin ranks fourth in blocks per game (1.5) and fourth in total blocks (19) in the PSAC.
RISING UP THE RANKS
Against the Golden Eagles, Joseph-Bernard moved up one spot to take possession of 11
th place on Slippery Rock's career blocks list with 53 rejections. The senior forward passed Karington Ketterer (2018-20), who finished her SRU career with 52 blocks.
Gillin did not block a shot against Clarion, but still sits in 15
th place, just one rejection away from tying Jessica Schake (2005-07, 08-09) on the blocks list with 45.
A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING
While typically not the highest scoring player on the court, Joseph-Bernard always finds multiple ways to impact the game. The senior is averaging 8.9 points, 9.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.9 blocks and 2.3 steals per game.
Joseph-Bernard is the only Division II athlete to average at least 8.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.5 blocks and 2.0 steals per game.
APPROACHING FRESHMAN RANKS
Starting the second half of the regular season, Wade is 81 points, three assists and eight 3-pointers away from entering Slippery Rock's top 10 list for a freshman in each category. The freshman is currently chasing Viola Bournes (259 points), Nikki Presto (64 assists) and Lori Robinson (20 3-pointers).
SENIOR SEASONS
Joseph-Bernard and Gillin have been the backbone Slippery Rock's defense this season. The two forwards rank inside the top 10 for blocks as a senior at The Rock as Joseph-Bernard sits in fourth place with 25 blocks, while Gillin occupies ninth place with 19 blocks along with D'Asia Chambers.
Gillin also currently sports the seventh highest 3-point percentage (.346) by a Slippery Rock senior with at least three attempts per game.
3-POINT PRECISION
Slippery Rock has multiple players lighting it up from beyond the arc during the 2025-26 season. Hook ranks second (.406) and Gillin (.346) sits fourth in the PSAC in 3-point percentage.

SCOUTING PITT-JOHNSTOWN
The Mountain Cats started their season 0-4, but has won five of their last 10 games, including two PSAC wins. UPJ held its own against No. 8 Indiana University (Pa.) in its last time out, falling, 68-60, at the Kovalchick Complex.
Between the four common opponents that SRU and UPJ have played so far (Shippensburg, Shepherd, East Stroudsburg University and Bloomsburg University), each team defeated Shippensburg and Shepherd, while also falling to East Stroudsburg and Bloomsburg.
On the offensive end, Pitt-Johnstown averages 69.9 ppg and allow 68.9 ppg, for a +1.0 scoring margin per game. Senior forward Liv West leads all Mountain Cats with 15.4 ppg and 4.9 rpg. Riley Childress also averages double-digit points with 11.0 ppg.
