LAST TIME OUT
Slippery Rock earned a 74-61 win over PSAC West foe California (Pa.) Jan. 24 at Morrow Field House.

Sophia Hook led Slippery Rock in scoring with 20 points, her third 20-point game this season. This was the fifth time Hook has led The Rock in scoring this campaign. The junior guard also grabbed five rebounds, collected one assist and one steal.Â

Mairan Haggerty was a force off the bench with a career-high 17 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the floor, while converting on all six of her attempts from the charity stripe. The junior also grabbed a season-high eight rebounds, dished out one assist and grabbed one steal.Â

Alyssa Gillin tied a career-high with four made 3-pointers on her way to 15 points, nine rebounds, one assist and four blocks. Gillin's nine rebounds were a season high. This was Gillin's fourth-straight multi-block performance as well as her third game with four or most blocks this season.Â

Iyanna Wade put in a 14-point, seven-assist, one-rebound and four-steal performance. Wade's four steals tied a career-high for the freshman. This was Wade's third game in a row with at least five assists, and it was her 11th such game this season. Â

Karianna Woods rounded out SRU's scorers with four points apiece. The two seniors also combined for six rebounds, five assists and two steals. Â

Slippery Rock ended the game shooting 46.9 percent (23-of-49) from the field overall, 47.4  percent (9-for-19) from the 3-point line and 73.1 percent (19-of-26) from the charity stripe.Â

SRU narrowly outrebounded Cal, 33-32, while also doubling the Vulcans in second chance points (14-7). California scored 12 more points than The Rock inside (34-22)Â

Defensively, SRU limited California to 41.1 percent (23-of-56) from the floor overall, 22.2 percent (2-for-9) from beyond the arc and 68.4 percent (13-of-19) from the foul line.Â
BEATING CAL
With Slippery Rock's win over California last time out, it was its first win over the Vulcans since Feb. 2, 2019, when it downed the then ranked No. 10 Vulcans, 72-61.Â
GETTING TO THE LINE
Slippery Rock was able to get to the free throw line often against California. The Rock set a season-high in free throw attempts, 26, and makes, 19. The last time The Rock had these free throw numbers was 39 games ago, in a 69-59 win over Salem (19-27).
KNOCKING DOWN THE LONG BALL
The Rock made nine 3-pointers last time out against the Vulcans. The nine made 3-pointers were the second-most made shots from beyond the arc this season. SRU hit 10 3-pointers in a 76-72 win over Shepherd University.
MOVING THE ROCK
The Rock's 16 assists were the most in their last six matchup. Ball movement has been key for SRU putting up 66.4 points per game as it has assisted on 57.9 percent (242-of-418) of it's made field goals.
Wade and Joseph-Bernard lead the way for Rock playmakers as the guard ranks second (4.7 apg) and the forward ranks seventh (3.9 apg) in the PSAC in assists per game.
Slippery Rock is the only team in the PSAC with two of the top 10 players in assists per game.
LEADING THE PACK
Wade is currently averaging 13.6 points per game and 4.6 assists per game this season. The guard sits 23
rd in the country in assists per game and is the tied for the highest in the freshmen ranks in Division II. The rookie also leads all freshmen in the conference in scoring and assists.

PROTECTING THE PAINT
Joseph-Bernard and Gillin have been two of the fiercest shot-blockers in the country so far this season. The forwards are currently both ranked 38
th in Division II in total blocks with 29 each and 42
nd with 1.7 blocks per game. While near the top of the country in blocks and blocks per game, the duo's blocks per game sit third the PSAC. The senior forwards only trail Lock Haven University's Alana Robinson (2.1) and Kutztown University's Ariana Smuda (1.8) in blocks per game.
ROOKIE LEADERS
With 9 games left in the regular season, Wade is currently The Rock's leading scorer with 13.6 points per game. If the freshman stays as SRU's top point-getter, she will be the third rookie to lead The Rock in scoring since the 1999-00 season.Â
Regan Atkins (2023-24) and Becky Siembak (1999-00) are the only SRU rookies to lead the team in points in the last 27 seasons.
RISING UP THE RANKS
Against the Vulcans, Gillin moved into 12
th place on Slippery Rock's all-time blocks list with 54 blocks. Gillin sits two blocks behind of Lori Robinson (1993-96, 97-98) on Slippery Rock's career blocks list.
Joseph-Bernard did not block a shot against California, but still sits with 57 career rejections and one block behind Emilee Vitez (2009-13) for ninth place on SRU's all-time blocks list.
INSIDE-OUT THREAT
Gillin has been a cornerstone for SRU both offensively and defensively this year. Not only has she blocked 1.7 shots per game, she's also converted 35 of her 99 3-point attempts on the way to averaging 12.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game while shooting 43.7 percent from the field overall to go with her impressive shot blocking.

Gillin is the only athlete in all of Division II to have recorded at least 35 made 3-pointers and 25Â blocks this year.

PRODUCTION OFF THE BENCH
Haggerty scored a career-high 17 points against the Vulcans. Haggerty's 17 points off the bench was most by a non-start for Slippery Rock in its last 21 games. Anya Washington scored 18 points for The Rock against Pitt-Johnstown Feb. 15, 2025. The junior has been a productive scorer off the bench in the last four games for Slippery Rock. Haggerty has scored 14 or more points in three of her last four appearances, averaging 13.3 ppg in that span.
PICKING UP STEALS
Woods has been a core player for SRU on the defensive end this season. The senior transfer from Bethune-Cookman sits with 34 steals on the season, tied with Lexi Carpenter (2015-16) for the 9
th most steals by a transfer in their first year at SRU. Woods has at least one steal in all but one game so far this season.Â
On the offensive end, Woods has reach double-digits in points in eight of her last 10 games, averaging 9.7 ppg over that span.
A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING
While typically not the highest scoring player on the court, Joseph-Bernard always finds multiple ways to impact the game. The senior is averaging 9.1 points, 9.4 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.7 blocks and 2.0 steals per game.Â
Joseph-Bernard is the only Division II athlete to average at least 9.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.5 blocks and 2.0 steals per game.
APPROACHING FRESHMAN RANKS
Through 17 games in the regular season, Wade is 29 points, and two 3-pointers away from entering Slippery Rock's top 10 list for a freshman in each category. The freshman is currently chasing Viola Bournes (259 points), and Robinson (20 3-pointers).
Against California, Wade orchestrated seven assists to move up one spot into fifth place on SRU's freshman assists list with 80 assists so far in 2025-26.

Joseph-Bernard and Gillin have been the backbone Slippery Rock's defense this season. The two forwards rank inside the top five for blocks as a senior at The Rock as Joseph-Bernard and Gillin both tied for third with 29 blocks each this season.
Gillin also currently sports the sixth highest 3-point percentage (.354) by a Slippery Rock senior with at least three attempts per game.

HITTING THE GLASS
Joseph-Bernard is one of the premier rebounders in the PSAC as the senior grabs the third most defensive rebounds per game (7.9), the fourth most rebounds per contest (9.4) and the fourth most total rebounds (159) in the PSAC. Most recently Joseph-Bernard has averaged 8.5 rpg over her last four appearances.
Joseph-Bernard's 7.9 defensive rpg puts the senior as the seventh best defensive rebounder in Division II.
IRON WOMEN
Slippery Rock has utilized the same starting lineup of Wade, Hook, Woods, Gillin and Joseph-Bernard in all 17 games this season. The Rock's core five rarely leave the court as every SRU starter averages at least 30 minutes per game.

SCOUTING EDINBORO
The Fighting Scots started out the 2025-26 season by losing five of their first six games, but have responded by winning 11 of their next 14 contests. Standing at 9-2 in conference play, Edinboro is tied for third in the PSAC West standings. The only conference losses for Edinboro have been to Gannon University and Indiana University (Pa.). The losses occurred when the two teams were ranked No. 5 and No. 7, respectively.
Edinboro has three players currently averaging 10.0 or more points per game. Reigning PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week, Rachel Manfredo, leads the Fighting Scots with 14.8 ppg, 5.2 rpb, 2.0 spg and 1.2 bpg. The sophomore guard is the only Fighting Scot to average more than 1.0 bpg. Â Ava Haddad (13.2 ppg & 1.1 bpg) and Taylor Blunt (11.7 ppg & 1.3 spg) join Manfredo as other Edinboro athletes with at least 10.0 ppg and 1.0 spg.

Slippery Rock returns home to begin a three-game homestand. It begins 1 p.m. Saturday against No. 8 Gannon. The contest against Gannon will mark the end of the first time through the PSAC West schedule for The Rock.
