Rock looks to carry momentum into match at California

Coming off a 3-1 win against Edinboro, the Slippery Rock women’s soccer team looks to stay atop the PSAC West standings with a win 1 p.m. Saturday at California (Pa.).

LAST TIME OUT
Slippery Rock improved to 1-2-0 on the season and 1-0-0 in the PSAC West with a 3-1 win at home against Edinboro, while the Fighting Scots fell to 2-2-0 and 0-1-0 in the PSAC West.
 
The Rock pulled ahead early in the first half with a goal Marissa Salisbury, her first career goal, off a through ball from Bailey McGee in the 11th minute.  
 
Edinboro was able to find an equalizing goal from Jada Cole, a top goal scorer in the PSAC, in the 59th minute.

Slippery Rock answered back in the 67th minute with a set-piece conversion off the right boot of Sophia Palermo. Salisbury sent in a corner kick from the near side, which Irene Doleno headed over to Palermo for the finish, giving Slippery Rock a 2-1 lead.

The Rock found an insurance marker in the 82nd minute when Abby Paterline buried her own rebound to seal a 3-1 win for The Rock.
 
The game finished with the Slippery Rock having a 23-7 edge in shots and 11-3 advantage in shots on goal. The Rock finished with a 9-1 tilt in corner kicks.
 
Leah Allman made two saves in the game, moving her ahead of Amanda Wier for sole possession of eighth place on the SRU all-time saves record list with 136.
 
LEADING THE ROCK
Paterline leads with two goals and four points. Four other Rock players have at least a point so far this season.

Allman has been The Rock's starter for all three games so far this season. The junior from Olmsted Township, Ohio has a 1-2-0 record with a .667 save percentage, while allowing two goals per game.

Through the first two weeks of the season, Slippery Rock has two athletes currently with spots on the PSAC leaderboards. Paterline is tied for 10th with two goals on the year and Palermo is tied for third with one game-winning goal on the season.

Slippery Rock has found success while on the road in PSAC West competition in recent years. The Rock are 24-9-6 in PSAC West road games over the last five seasons. Slippery Rock head coach Noreen Herlihy holds a 70-38-15 record in PSAC road games at SRU.

CALIFORNIA (PA.) SCOUTING REPORT
The Vulcans have struggled to start 2025, currently sitting with an 0-4-0 record overall and a 0-1-0 record in the PSAC West. All four results for California this season have been 1-0 losses.
 
Freshman goalkeeper Autumn Bishop has been a standout for the Vulcans this season. Bishop has totaled 21 saves in four games with 12 saves coming against Gannon. In her time on the field, Bishop has only allowed three goals, amassing an impressive .875 save percentage.
 
Senior defender Izabella DeGlopper leads California in shots with four, as well as shots on goal with two.
