LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's cross country team was picked to finish third at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships this fall according to the PSAC Preseason Coaches Poll that was announced Wednesday.

Defending PSAC champion Shippensburg was picked atop the poll with 14 first place votes. East Stroudsburg was picked second with one first place vote, followed by Slippery Rock, Kutztown and Lock Haven rounding out the top five.

The Rock are coming off a fourth place showing at the 2024 PSAC Championships and a fifth place finish at the Atlantic Region Championships last fall.

Slippery Rock returns one All-PSAC runner from last season in the for of
John Juszynski, who placed 23rd at the 2024 conference meet to pick up second team All-PSAC honors. The squad loses a trio of former All-PSAC selections in
Troy Hart,
Devon Navaroli and
Joey Cintavey, who all completed their final seasons of eligibility in 2024-25.

In addition to Juszynski, The Rock men will welcome back two more scorers from the 2024 PSAC meet in
Eli Schreiber and
Ryan Czechowski, as well as five other runners that gained experience at the conference meet last year with
Dom Bumblis,
Brady Hoffman,
Easton Adamczyk,
Harrison Repko and
Michael Novak all returning. Novak earned All-PSAC honors at the 2023 conference meet.

In total, Slippery Rock's roster features 14 men with collegiate experience. Joining the group mentioned above is graduate transfer
Alex Morris, who comes to SRU after finishing his undergraduate degree at Shawnee State. Morris was an All-Conference honoree that helped Shawnee win the 2023 River States Conference title.

Dylan Barca,
Michael Gauntner and
Nicholas Martelli.

That group will be joined by nine true freshmen to make up a total roster of 23 men. The freshmen include

Colton Adolph (Toledo, Ohio),
Gavin Boer (Hampstead, Md.),
Lincoln Bouman (North Ridgeville, Ohio),
Andreas Dunkel (Shippensburg, Pa.),
Brandon Henry (Saint Marys, Pa.),
Micah Ivy (Oakmont, Pa.),
Jonah Lindstrom (Connellsville, Pa.) and
Grey Lowman (Wexford, Pa.).

Slippery Rock will unofficially open the season this Saturday with the annual SRU Alumni Race on campus and will officially open the competition season Sept. 6 on the road at Edinboro's Doug Watts Open. The Rock will compete just four times during the regular season with races at Allegheny (Sept. 20), Lock Haven (Sept. 27) and Carnegie Mellon (Oct. 11).

The PSAC Championships are set for Oct. 25 at Edinboro. The NCAA Atlantic Region meet will be Nov. 8 at Lock Haven and the National Championships are slated for Nov. 22 in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
