SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's track & field team sits in third place in the team standings after day one of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships wrapped up Thursday night from The Rock's William Lennox Track.

Defending champion Shippensburg scored 17 points in the 10,000-meter run to jump out to a lead with 23 points on the first day of the three-day meet. East Stroudsburg grabbed 10 points in the hammer throw and finished the day with 17 points to sit second. Slippery Rock is third with 10 points, followed by California (Pa.) and Lock Haven in a tie for fourth with eight points each.

The two event finals Thursday were the hammer throw and the 10,000-meter run. The only other events contested Thursday were the first five events of the decathlon, which will wrap up Friday.

Slippery Rock scored in both events Thursday with
Zach Gose and
Ryan Oleksy placing in the hammer and
Troy Hart scoring in the 10,000-meter run.

Gose earned All-PSAC honors with a third place finish in the hammer with a throw of 57.28 meters. Oleksy was sixth with a toss of 53.45 meters to give SRU nine points in the event.

Hart closed the day by taking eighth in the 10,000m in 31:29.43 to pick up one point.

Slippery Rock has two men in the top four in the decathlon standings with one day to go.
Zack Duda sits second with 3,697 points and
Logan Anderson is fourth with 3,658 points.
Ethan Folmer is also currently in a scoring spot in eighth with 3,329 points.

Friday's second day of competition begins at 10 a.m. with day two of the multi-event competition and continues with select finals in the field and preliminary rounds on the track, culminating in the steeplechase finals Friday evening. Everything you need to know for the meet is available at the
