2024-25 All-PSACÂ Announcement
Â
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Slippery Rock University women's basketball standout
Regan Atkins was named a second-team All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division selection for the first time in her career, the conference office announced Friday.
Â
Atkins, the reigning PSAC West Freshman of the Year, once again piloted The Rock in several statistical categories. Atkins finished the season with a team-leading 11.4 points per game alongside 5.9 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.1 steals per contest. She shot 41.6 percent from the field (84-of-202) including 33.9 percent from the 3-point arc (21-of-62).
Â
With her all-conference recognition, Atkins becomes the first Rock women's basketball player to be named to be named an All-PSAC West honoree since Deleah Gibson and Isabellah Middleton received second-team accolades in 2023.
Â
Atkins is also SRU's first PSAC West Freshman of the Year representative to receive all-conference honors in their sophomore season since Becky Siembak in 24 years (2000-01).
Â
Atkins appeared in the starting lineup for the first 21 games of the season prior to being sidelined for the final five games with an injury. In that time, she was SRU's leading scorer in seven different games, more than anyone else on the team.
Â
Her top scoring performance featured a career-high 24 points against Pitt-Johnstown in a 71-58 win over the Mountain Cats Jan. 6. The sophomore from New Castle, Pennsylvania reached 24 points thanks to 7-of-9 overall shooting (.779) and a 4-of-6 showing from the 3-point arc, a single-game team-high on the year.
Â
That game was one of three times Atkins reached 20 points this season, also posting 21-point performances in November against Glenville State University and Malone University. Atkins recorded the fourth double-double of her career against Glenville State with 21 points and 12 rebounds, falling just three assists shy of a triple-double in the effort.
Â
Atkins was Slippery Rock's leading rebounder in eight of her 21 games, headlined by a career-high 13 rebounds against Millersville University Nov. 23.
Â
Edinboro's Morgan Gentile was named the PSAC West Athlete of the Year, while Seton Hill University's Mia Kalich earned the Defensive Player of the Year honor. Rachel Manfredo of Edinboro was selected as the PSAC West Freshman of the Year, and Maeve Gallagher of Seton Hill was named the PSAC West Coach of the Year.
Â
Of the 14 players who earned All-PSAC West honors, Atkins is one of eight picking up the first all-conference accolade of their career. The All-PSAC West Team and individual award winners are nominated for, voted on and selected by the division's coaches.
Â
Slippery Rock concluded its 2024-25 season with a 7-19 record and a 4-16 showing within the PSAC, missing the PSAC Tournament by just one position in the standings.
Â
Atkins will begin her junior year ranking third all-time at SRU with 34.2 minutes per game, 14
th with 13.5 points per game throughout her career and ninth with 4.1 defensive rebounds per games. She has tallied 620 points, 260 rebounds and 73 assists through her first two seasons at The Rock.
